It is essential for a Christian counselor to be multilingual - in a sense.

Christian cousnelors must be able to speak in a "language" which each individual counselee can understand, while remaining faithful to their own convictions concerning psychotherapy, spirituotherapy, and the techniques which are required/to be avoided - in all sessions and with every unique situation.

If you find yourself seeking Christ-centered counseling, the first thing you should do is pray that the Holy Spirit would grant your counselor the ability to know which "language" you will best receive the Truth they seek to offer. Caution: Do not try to "help" by telling them what "language" you need to hear Truth in... let's be honest, you don't know either - that's why you're seeking counseling... to find understanding.

Speaking to an individual on a spiritual level is something only God can accomplish. We want Him to use our counselors as His mouthpiece and nothing more.

The same goes for pastors who proclaim the Truth from the pulpit each Sunday morning. Pray for them regularly, as what they have been called to accomplish, for the glory of God, is impossible on their own.

As of this morning, I have 24 spots left (originally 35) for the pro bono counseling! On average that's a financial savings of around $3,000! To clarify, that's full counseling all the way through, on average, 15-20 sessions - for 24 individuals.

Perspective is everything.

In the book of Job, Satan describes God's hedge as that which God has placed around His child for an unreasonable kind of protection from harm (Job 2:9-11). But, in the midst of his great pain, Job speaks of God's hedge has something which keeps him bound to his torment (Job 3:23).

Neither Satan (with his perverted view of God's sovereignty) nor Job (with his emotional response to God's sovereignty) had a proper view. While Job remained faithful, ultimately, his emotions were something of a rollercoaster - up, down, and all around.

Life can feel that way sometimes. When we allow our emotions to dictate our perspective of God and His purposes, we fail to see the whole picture and the results can be a bit dramatic.
