It is with great sadness for those of us on this side of heaven that we have to announce that our sister in Christ, Elaine Elsie Selk, was taken to be with Jesus on Tuesday, May 5th, and now waits the resurrection of all flesh.
We grieve the loss of our sister, but we do "not grieve as others do who have no hope. For since we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so, through Jesus, God will bring with him those who have fallen asleep" (1 Thessalonians 4:13-14).
Jesus said, "I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live, and everyone who lives and believes in me shall never die" (John 11:25-26).
Visitation will be held on Friday, May 8th, 2026, at St. John Lutheran Church in Keystone from 9 to 10:45 a.m. A memorial service will be held following visitation at 11:00 a.m. officiated by the Rev. Josiah Schultz. Following the service, a luncheon will be held in the church fellowship hall.

A prayer from Pastor Schultz for farmers as we continue into planting season.

Gracious Lord,
You are the giver of seedtime and harvest, sun and rain, soil and season. As planting time begins, we commend to You all farmers and those who labor in the fields.

Grant them safety in their work, wisdom in their decisions, strength for long days, and patience when the work is burdensome. Bless the ground beneath them, the seed they sow, the equipment they use, and the hands that labor. Give favorable weather in its proper time, and protect field, farm, and family from harm.

Teach us all to receive Your gifts with humility and thanksgiving, trusting that You provide daily bread for every creature through the vocations of those who work the land. And whether the season brings abundance or hardship, keep farmers steadfast in faith, looking to You as the Lord of all creation and the giver of every good gift.

We pray all of these things knowing that you promise to hear us Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.
