The week can leave us weary. Responsibilities, disappointments, and uncertainty can weigh heavily on our hearts.

But Scripture gives us a faithful reminder: look to Jesus.

He is the author and finisher of our faith. He endured the cross for us, and He is faithful to sustain us as we continue the race He has set before us.

When you are weary, look to Jesus. When you feel overwhelmed, look to Jesus. When you don't know what lies ahead, look to Jesus.

Our strength may fail, but our Savior never does.

“Looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith.” — Hebrews 12:2 (NKJV)

May we keep our eyes on Christ today and trust Him for the strength to take the next step.

Today we were reminded to keep looking unto Jesus.

Hebrews 11 recounts the faith of those who endured suffering, hardship, and uncertainty because they trusted the promises of God. Their lives give us a testimony worth remembering, but Hebrews 12 points us beyond every earthly example to the One who is worthy of our full attention: Jesus Christ.

We are called to lay aside every weight and the sin that so easily ensnares us and “run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith.”

Whatever this week brings, keep looking to Jesus.

He is faithful, and He is worthy of our trust.

Tomorrow at Calvary Baptist Church, we will gather to worship, observe the Lord’s Supper, and hear God’s Word.

Pastor KD Foster will bring the message, “Keep Looking unto Jesus,” from Hebrews 11:32–40 and 12:1–3.

Hebrews reminds us of faithful believers who endured hardship because they trusted God. Their example points us beyond themselves to Jesus, who calls us to “run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus.”

As we remember Christ’s sacrifice through the Lord’s Supper, may we fix our eyes on the One who endured the cross for us.

Can the Gospel be sincerely offered to those who will ultimately reject it? 🤔

In this excerpt from The Reformed Doctrine of Predestination, Loraine Boettner addresses a significant objection to the Reformed doctrine of predestination: If God has ordained who will be saved, can the Gospel invitation genuinely be extended to everyone?

Boettner considers God's foreknowledge, the sincerity of the Gospel offer, the preacher's responsibility to proclaim the Gospel to all, and the mystery of God's sovereign purposes.

The questions surrounding God's sovereignty and man's responsibility are not always easy ones—but they are worth examining carefully in light of Scripture.

Today we were reminded that faith looks beyond what we can see and trusts the promises of God.

Hebrews 11:13–19 tells us about those who died in faith without receiving the fullness of what had been promised. They saw those promises from afar, embraced them, and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth. Their hearts were set on something better—a heavenly country and the city God had prepared for them.

We too are called to live with an eternal perspective. This world is not our final home. Because of Christ, our hope reaches beyond what we can see today to the eternal home God has prepared for His people.

Yet they saw those promises from afar, embraced them by faith, and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth. Their hearts were set on something better—a heavenly country and the city God had prepared for them.

Abraham's faith was tested when he was called to offer Isaac, yet he trusted that God was able to fulfill His promise even beyond what he could understand. His confidence rested in the character and power of God.

As followers of Christ, we too are called to live by faith, remembering that this world is not our final home. Our hope is in the promises of God and in the eternal home He has prepared for His own.

Join us Sunday as we worship together and consider what it means to live faithfully as strangers and pilgrims, looking toward the better country God has promised.

Today we were reminded that faith is trusting God because He is faithful, even when we cannot see what lies ahead.

Hebrews 11 gives us the testimony of Abel, Enoch, Noah, Abraham, and Sarah—ordinary people who responded to an extraordinary God with faith and obedience. Noah prepared for what he had not yet seen. Abraham went where God called him without knowing where he was going. Sarah trusted the One who had promised.

Their faith was not confidence in themselves. It was confidence in God.

Hebrews 11:6 reminds us, “But without faith it is impossible to please Him.” Faith believes that God is who He says He is, trusts His promises, and seeks Him faithfully.

As we enter a new week, may we ask ourselves: Am I trusting God even when I cannot see the outcome? Am I willing to obey His Word even when the path is unfamiliar?

May we follow the example of those who have gone before us, trusting the Lord and walking faithfully by faith.

Tomorrow at Calvary Baptist Church, Pastor Foster will bring the message, “It Is Impossible to Please God Without Faith,” from Hebrews 11:3–12.

Hebrews 11 points us to men and women who trusted God when they could not see the outcome. Abel worshiped by faith. Noah obeyed God concerning things not yet seen. Abraham followed when he did not know where he was going. Sarah trusted the faithfulness of the One who had promised.

At the heart of these examples is a simple but profound truth: “Without faith it is impossible to please Him” (Hebrews 11:6).

Faith means trusting the character and promises of God and responding to Him in obedience. As we gather this Sunday, may we be encouraged to believe God, trust His Word, and walk faithfully even when we cannot see what lies ahead.
