Since 1992, New Song has walked with men coming home from prison and jail in Racine and Kenosha counties.
Most of what we do is ordinary. A ride to an appointment. A seat at a table on Sunday evening. A phone that gets answered at eleven at night. A man comes home to a county he knows and a life he has to rebuild from almost nothing, and doing that alone is how people end up going back.
Our programs are community-based and post-release. Several of us also serve as volunteers inside the Racine and Kenosha county jails, so the relationship sometimes starts before a man comes home.
