Following the Resurrection, Jesus met His disciples on a mountain in Galilee. There the risen Christ declared:

“All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost...” Matthew 28:18–19, KJV

WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO BE METHODIST?
Series Purpose
Methodism did not begin primarily as another denomination. It began as a movement of Christians seeking to take following Jesus seriously—through Scripture, prayer, disciplined Christian living, care for the poor, evangelism, worship, Holy Communion, and accountable community.
John and Charles Wesley and their companions were mockingly called “Methodists” because they were methodical about practicing their faith. The name stuck.
This study asks a question more important than simply, “What do Methodists believe?”

What kind of Christian does Christ call us to become?
Throughout these six weeks we will examine Methodist history and beliefs through the greater authority of Scripture, asking not merely what Wesley believed, but what Scripture calls followers of Jesus Christ to believe, become, and do.
