Embracing God’s Design for Marriage
Breaking the cycle of divorce requires more than addressing surface-level issues; it involves a deep heart transformation. As Jesus taught in Matthew 19, divorce is often the result ofhardness of heart—a condition that resists God’s design for marriage. To break this cycle, believers must seek to cultivate soft hearts that are aligned with God’s will.

By seeking God first, practicing forgiveness, cultivating humility, and committing to
reconciliation, couples can prevent the breakdown of their marriages and experience the
fullness of God’s intended blessings for their relationship. When both spouses are willing to
humble themselves before God and one another, the cycle of divorce can be broken, and
their marriage can become a reflection of God’s love, grace, and faithfulness.

In the end, marriage is a divine institution that mirrors God’s relationship with His people. Byembracing God’s design and allowing Him to soften our hearts, we can overcome the
challenges that lead to divorce and build marriages that honor Him and thrive according to
His purpose.

The Stewardship of Marriage
Introduction Session...

Stewardship is a way of living that recognizes everything we have is a gift from God. It is managing God's blessings, God's ways, for God's glory. The Bible tells us that God owns everything, and we are His stewards or managers. God commands us to be stewards over everything He blesses us with.

Stewardship of relationships is the careful management of the relationships that God entrusts to us, according to his purpose and will. It means to apply our God-given resources to the best of our ability, for his glory, and to grow and maximize love. It also means to be responsible and accountable for how we treat others, especially those closest to us, and to seek their preparation for God’s use in the Kingdom. Everyone

Every Argument begins with an accusation, where someone is accused of wrong. Simply put, an accusation is a word or words formed against someone. In our U.S. courts, the only reason a person stands as a defendant is that an accusation has been made against them, where they are accused of doing something not right. For this reason (an accusation was made against us, we were accused of doing something wrong), Jesus became our defense attorney.

A defense attorney defends the accused. He or she will advocate and protect their client’s interests and rights. Strong says a defense advocate (defense attorney) is someone who is summoned, called to one’s side and especially to one’s aid, and believe me, we needed all the help we could get.

God’s word tutors us in being faithful; it instructs us how to live a godly life positioned in faithfulness. According to Scripture, faithfulness is a requirement of a steward.

1 Corinthians 4:1-2 King James Version (KJV)
Let a man so account of us, as of the ministers of Christ, and stewards of the mysteries of God.
Moreover, it is required in stewards, that a man/woman (a person) be found faithful.

The Amplified Bible (AMP) translates the second verse this way,
Moreover, it is [essentially] required of stewards that a man should be found faithful [proving himself worthy of trust.]
The Passion Translation renders the second verse as,
The most important quality of one entrusted with such secrets is that they are faithful and trustworthy.

The Strong’s Greek Lexicon says a steward must be found faithful (trusty, proven) G3623. The Oxford Languages Dictionary defines the word trusty as someone who has served for a long time and is regarded as reliable or faithful. We might be more familiar with this when we hear it used when referring to a prisoner who has been given special privileges based on good behavior. This person, after being put to the test (examined or investigated) has been proven to be faithful. Another example I can use is the work that I do. I contract with the State, where my work involves working with babies. Before I am awarded a contract, I must submit to an exhaustive background check, to prove that I can be trusted.
Therefore, the prerequisite of being a steward is that this person is found (after being searched or investigated) faithful. This person must prove themselves to be reliable, after which they are afforded extra privileges because of their faithfulness.

Some Arguments Are Just Not Worth Winning, regardless of who is right or wrong.
Often, I have said to my spouse, ‘I love you too much, I do not have to win this argument.”
Having the ability to let things go (slide) is probably one of your best assets in marriage.

Psalm 139
1 You have searched me, Lord,
and you know me.
2 You know when I sit and when I rise;
you perceive my thoughts from afar.
3 You discern my going out and my lying down;
you are familiar with all my ways.
4 Before a word is on my tongue
you, Lord, know it completely.
5 You hem me in behind and before,
and you lay your hand upon me.
6 Such knowledge is too wonderful for me,
too lofty for me to attain.

7 Where can I go from your Spirit?
Where can I flee from your presence?
8 If I go up to the heavens, you are there;
if I make my bed in the depths, you are there.
9 If I rise on the wings of the dawn,
if I settle on the far side of the sea,
10 even there your hand will guide me,
your right hand will hold me fast.
11 If I say, “Surely the darkness will hide me
and the light become night around me,”
12 even the darkness will not be dark to you;
the night will shine like the day,
for darkness is as light to you.

13 For you created my inmost being;
you knit me together in my mother’s womb.
14 I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
your works are wonderful,
I know that full well.
15 My frame was not hidden from you
when I was made in the secret place,
when I was woven together in the depths of the earth.
16 Your eyes saw my unformed body;
all the days ordained for me were written in your book
before one of them came to be.
17 How precious to me are your thoughts,[a] God!
How vast is the sum of them!
18 Were I to count them,
they would outnumber the grains of sand—
when I awake, I am still with you.

19 If only you, God, would slay the wicked!
Away from me, you who are bloodthirsty!
20 They speak of you with evil intent;
your adversaries misuse your name.
21 Do I not hate those who hate you, Lord,
and abhor those who are in rebellion against you?
22 I have nothing but hatred for them;
I count them my enemies.
23 Search me, God, and know my heart;
test me and know my anxious thoughts.
24 See if there is any offensive way in me,
and lead me in the way everlasting.
