This weekend Fr. Richard reminded us that everyone receives the call to share Christ's love through kindness to others, visiting the homebound, prayer, and other ordinary acts of human generosity. "Jesus doesn't ask us to do everything; He asks us to do our part in the ebb and flow of everyday life, Fr. Richard said, urging us to "pay it forward...this week."

Jesus proclaimed, "Without cost you have received; without cost you are to give" (Matthew 10:8).

Pay it forward? It's a Jesus thing! Gifting others as the Lord has gifted us causes a chain reaction of divine love and goodness.

From the Solemnity of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus we move to the Memorial of the Immaculate Heart of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Holy Mary, Mother of us all, pray for us with your mother's heart, the same heart that always and forever holds close your son, our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

On this Solemnity of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, the Church also marks the World Day of Prayer for the Sanctification of Priests. As we reflect on the deep love, sacrifice and redemption illustrated in the Sacred Heart of our Jesus, let us also pray to the Lord for continued courage, strength, and commitment in the heart and soul of our pastor, Fr. Richard, such a humble, faithful, and loving servant of our Lord.

"No one has ever seen God. Yet, if we love one another, God remains in us, and His love is brought to perfection in us (1 John 4:12).

Want to keep God close? Love...unconditionally.

In his homily at this afternoon's Mass consecrating the United States to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, Archbishop William E. Lori said, "To consecrate ourselves to the Sacred Heart means remaining in Christ’s love and carrying that love into the world. It means building communities – ecclesial and civil – where truth is proclaimed clearly and charity is practiced generously. It means resisting the temptation to define ourselves by division, ideology, or resentment. The Sacred Heart does not divide; it reconciles. It does not harden hearts; it transforms them. It does not simply invite us to receive love; it sends us forth to share it."

That's worth another read!

"I give you a new commandment: love one another as I have loved you" (John 13:34).

Today's challenge: Let's consider how faithfully we follow Christ's commandment. He's set a high bar, without qualifications! Through His grace and a willing spirit, we can meet that mark.

"...we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope, and hope does not disappoint us, because God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us" (Romans 5:3-5).

Even amidst the twists and turns of life, hope and beauty can be found: That's God!
