ARCHBISHOP'S CHECCHIO PASTORAL VISIT: for the first time We warmly welcomed our new Roman Catholic Archdiocese of New Orleans Archbishop James Checchio, for visiting our parish today and to celebrate the Holy Eucharist and God’s love with us.
Welcome Archbishop Checchio! We're glad to have you with us down the Bayou here in Jean Lafitte, Lafitte, Barataria, and Crown Point!

06/19/2026

Good afternoon my Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

Peace of the Lord be with you! I hope this message finds y’all doing well! So, we’re counting down to Archbishop Checchio’s pastoral visit to our parish come this Sunday, June 21, 2026. He will be celebrating the 10:30am Mass with and for us. It’s such an honor to have our new archbishop come visit with us and to know how we his flock is doing down on the Bayou. I met him yesterday during our priests meeting at the Notre Dame Seminary, and he told me he’s looking forward to the visit. I also confirmed to him that we as a parish are pretty excited and are also looking forward to hosting him.

As we look forward to this all-important day, I want to encourage all parishioners to consider attending the 10:30am (even though you may have attended your usual Saturday 4pm Vigil Mass or 8am Sunday Mass). Let’s turn out in large number as a parish family and as a community to warmly receive and welcome our Father and our Archbishop, and so that we can also receive the fresh blessing he brings not just to our parish of St. Anthony but also to our communities of Lafitte, BARATARIA and the Crown Point area. Please, invite your friends and neighbors. I hope to see you there. Meanwhile, those who normally attend the Sunday 10am Mass, be reminded that the 10am Mass will be at 10:30am just for this weekend.

Please, be assured of my continued prayers for you and your families. I celebrate the gift of your faith and love for Christ. God bless.

Fr. Jude

Good morning my dearly beloved in Christ,

Peace of the Lord be with you! Just a few friendly reminders and updates. So, today Thursday, June 4, 2026 HOLY HOUR will be held in all parishes within the Archdiocese of New Orleans from 6:00-7:00 p.m. This begins the 9 Days Novena to the Solemnity of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Official Consecration of the Archdiocese of New Orleans to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and our Home (the Domestic Church) Enthronements. I strongly encourage all parishioners to attend. But in the event that you can’t make the Holy Hour tonight and subsequent days of the novena, I strongly encourage individual families to consider doing the novena at home as a family by daily gathering together your family to do the prayers designated for the novena. I’m attaching the prayer resource here: “Novena in Preparation for Enthronement of the Home to the Sacred Heart of Jesus.”

I hope y’all find it helpful. Most Sacred Heart of Jesus! Have Mercy on us!

Fr. Jude
