Our 3rd and final celebration of our church 150th anniversary. Each of the celebrations were unique and we were able to worship with many members. Thank you everyone for making these days beautiful with your presence.

150 years. One faithful Lord.

We began our anniversary celebration this morning where Christ Lutheran began, with Matins at our cemetery, on the site where our congregation’s first log cabin church once stood and where many of our members now rest from their labors.

We then gathered for Divine Service in our present church, where Southern Illinois District President Rev. Heath Curtis preached. Following the service, we enjoyed one final anniversary luncheon and were blessed to hear from former pastor Rev. Gregory Todd.

Over these three Sundays, we have remembered generations of parishioners, pastors, and teachers, baptisms and confirmations, weddings and funerals, school days and Sundays, and 150 years of God’s Word proclaimed and His gifts received here in the Bottoms.

Generations have come and gone, but the promise remains:

“Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.” Hebrews 13:8

Thanks be to God for 150 years of grace, and for all that is yet to come.

Tomorrow is the third and final Sunday of our 150th anniversary celebration!

✝️ 7:30 a.m. — Matins at our cemetery on Brunkhorst Road, the site of our original log cabin church. Refreshments will follow in the Bible study room in the school.

✝️ 9:00 a.m. — Divine Service in the church, with Southern Illinois District President Rev. Heath Curtis preaching. Lunch will follow in the school gym.

Join us as we give thanks to God for 150 years of grace and blessings here in the Bottoms!

Tomorrow morning, there will be coffee and light snacks available between the cemetery service and the church service in the Sunday school classroom for those who would like to fellowship.
