Remember Lot's Wife.
This serves as both a warning and a reminder from Jesus in Luke 17:32. Not only for her judgment, but for the lessons her life teaches. She was greatly blessed and privileged, married to Lot and warned ahead of time about God’s coming destruction of S***m. She knew the truth and knew what God expected, yet knowing better did not lead her to do better.
Her spiritual problems were unbelief, disobedience, and a heart still attached to the world she was leaving behind. Our gaze often determines our path. What we continually look toward will eventually influence the direction of our lives. Lot’s wife serves as a warning that there are no “little sins” and that partial obedience is still disobedience.
In the end, her punishment came because she looked back, revealing where her heart truly was. Jesus’ simple command in Luke 17:32, “Remember Lot’s wife,” challenges us to keep our eyes on the Lord and move forward in faithful obedience without longing for the things God has called us to leave behind.
Ask yourself today, "What am I looking back to that God has called me to leave behind?"
