What a great day at North Jax!

We celebrated Penny Bryan and her 30 years of faithful service, witnessed lives publicly dedicated to Christ through baptism, and had a packed choir loft as our Student Choir joined the Adult Praise & Worship Choir & Orchestra.

Pastor Herb preached a message titled, “Family Matters,” from Exodus 18:1–12, using the reunion of Moses, his wife, children, and father-in-law Jethro to remind us that family matters to God. He challenged us to put Jesus at the center of our homes, lay down our pride, intentionally invest in our marriages and families, and extend grace to one another.

He also reminded us that through Christ, we are born into an even greater family: the family of God. As believers, we should help that family grow by living authentic lives, building relationships, and sharing what God has done.

And whatever season we may be walking through, Pastor Herb left us with this powerful reminder:

“When God provides, worship Him. When God heals, worship Him. When God delivers, worship Him. When God answers prayer, worship Him. And even when you don't understand what God's doing, worship Him. Worship is not based upon whether life is easy. Our worship is based on who God is.”

Today we celebrate a special milestone for Penny Bryan: 30 years of service at North Jax!

Throughout the years, Penny has faithfully served our pastoral and women’s ministry staff and our church family.

For three decades, she has brought dedication, dependability, and excellence to all she does.

We are quick to ask God for help in the middle of a battle. But how quickly do we remember the battles He has already brought us through?

As Pastor Josh reminded us: memory fuels faith. Remembering God’s faithfulness yesterday gives us courage to trust Him with what we’re facing today.

So when the road ahead feels uncertain, look back. Remember the prayers He answered. Remember the doors He opened. Remember the times He provided when you couldn't see a way forward.

The God who was faithful then is still faithful now. And the battle still belongs to the Lord.

Tonight was sacred.

Months ago, Pastor Josh felt led to call our church family together for a Night of Prayer & Praise, not knowing all that would be happening in the life of our church when this evening arrived. But God knew.

Through Scripture, music and prayer, we lifted our voices together and praised God for who He is. We prayed specifically and boldly for lost people to be saved, for healing, for broken relationships to be restored and for the needs of God’s people.

Pastor Josh reminded us that a coal removed from the fire may glow for a little while, but eventually it grows cold. Place it back among the other coals, and it quickly reignites. We were never meant to go through this life alone. Tonight, God’s people came together, and the fire was unmistakable.

We prayed boldly, not because we are worthy, but because Jesus is. We asked God to shake the room, and we experienced the truth of Acts 4 as His Spirit moved among us. People filled the altar. Brothers and sisters carried one another’s burdens. Names and needs were spoken in faith. The presence of God was real, and the movement of His people was undeniable.

We believe God heard every prayer, and we believe He is able to do everything we asked. Now, we trust His will, His way and His perfect plans. Whatever the outcome, may it draw us closer to Him.

Thank You, Lord, for Your presence. Thank You for our church. Thank You for the precious gift of belonging to the family of God.
