Let’s look at 1 John 4:11: “Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another.”
When we follow Christ and He has been allowed to take up residence in our soul, there is evidence. Things begin to change in our life, our character, and our overall disposition. In our text Scripture, we are encouraged to love one another. That seems difficult at times with certain people in our lives. The Holy Spirit has a way of healing us and developing an agape love within us that is not dependent upon what someone else has done, but rather upon what Christ has done for us. I love people from a heart that has been transformed into Christlikeness. My love is not conditional upon what you have done or have not done toward me. Think about this: Christ hung on a cross for all mankind and gave His life for the nice people and the hateful people. He gave His all regardless of whether you accept it or not. He opened a door of salvation with love for all who would come. When we are truly connected to Jesus, loving others begins to become a natural result of His presence within us. Today, may we love others—not because everyone deserves our love, but because we have experienced the incredible love of Jesus Christ.
