Cumberland Missionary Baptist Church
Who Are We: Cumberland Missionary Baptist Church stands on the following foundation as a unified body where believers grow in Christ, serve faithfully, and share the Gospel with the world.
“Cumberland”
“Where God gathers His people to dwell in unity” (Psalm 133:1) means that the church is a sacred place where God Himself b
rings His people together in harmony, love, and shared purpose. Our identity is rooted in three biblical foundations: Missionary, Baptist, and Church.
“Missionary”
As Missionary Baptists, we believe in the biblical mission of spreading the Gospel of Jesus Christ. This means we are committed to:
•Sharing the Gospel
•Evangelizing the lost
•Supporting missions and missionaries locally and abroad
“Baptist”
The term Baptist comes from the New Testament practice of baptizing believers by full immersion in water after they personally trust in Jesus Christ. Believer’s Baptism
Only those who confess Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior are baptized following the New Testament pattern (Acts 2:38; Acts 8:36–38).
2. Baptism by Immersion
Immersion symbolizes the believer’s union with Christ in:
*death to sin
*burial with Christ
*resurrection to new life (Romans 6:3–4)
3. Biblical Authority
Baptists hold the Bible as the final authority for faith and practice—above tradition or human hierarchy (2 Timothy 3:16–17).
“Church”
The word church comes from the Greek word ekklesia, meaning:
•“The called-out assembly”
•“The gathering of God’s people”
This reminds us that the church is a people, not a building a community called out to worship, serve, and live for God. Join Us
We welcome everyone who desires to grow in Christ, serve faithfully, and share in the mission of God’s Kingdom
