A Prayer for the New School Year
Heavenly Father,
As a new school year begins, we lift up our local students, teachers, school staff, youth group leaders, and families to You. We ask that You go before them and walk with them through every classroom, hallway, activity, conversation, and challenge they will face this year.
For our students, give them wisdom, courage, and strength. Help them grow not only in knowledge, but also in character. Surround them with good friends and godly influences, and give them courage to stand for what is right and to live out their faith with confidence and kindness.
For our teachers and school staff, give them patience, energy, wisdom, and compassion. Encourage them when the work feels overwhelming, and remind them of the lasting impact they can have on the lives of the students they serve. Protect them and give them strength for each day.
For our youth group leaders and volunteers, give them wisdom as they disciple and encourage the next generation. Help them build relationships that point students toward Christ, and give them opportunities to speak truth, offer encouragement, and be a faithful example of Your love.
For our families, give parents wisdom as they guide and encourage their children. Strengthen marriages and family relationships, provide peace in busy seasons, and help homes be places where faith is lived out, talked about, and treasured.
Father, we pray for protection over our schools and our communities. Bring peace where there is anxiety, kindness where there is division, and hope where there is discouragement. Help our churches be a source of support and encouragement to students, families, and school staff throughout the year.
Most of all, may this school year be an opportunity for Your light to shine through Your people. Help us remember that wherever You have placed us, we are called to love others, serve faithfully, and point people toward Jesus.
We commit this new school year to You and trust You with all that lies ahead.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
