Sermon Recap | Seeing Jesus | Sunday, August 30th

Revelation 1:9–20

In difficult seasons and suffering, we find encouragement by seeing Christ Jesus and His ministry to the Church.

John was writing to believers facing persecution, pressure, and compromise—and his answer was to turn their eyes to Jesus. As Christians, we are either in the midst of a difficult season, coming out of one, or about to head into one.

We see Jesus’ revelation for His Church:

* He has a plan for His Church—even suffering is not outside His will.
* He gives His provision through the presence of the Holy Spirit.
* He knows His people and continues to speak to His Church through His Word.

We see Jesus’ gracious work in His Church:

* His presence — Jesus is in the midst of His Church. We are not alone.
* His priestly role — He is our High Priest who intercedes for us.
* His purifying work — He sanctifies His people and sees all things.
* His power — He has authority, protects those who are His, and His glory drives out darkness.

And we see Jesus’ victory for His Church. He is the First and the Last, the Living One. He died, He rose, and He is alive forevermore. He holds the keys of Death and Hades.

So when difficult seasons come, the answer isn’t simply to look for a way out—look to Jesus. Be encouraged by His presence, trust His Word, rest in His care, and remember that the victory already belongs to Him.

Church, we are not alone. We are His. He is alive. He is with us. And He is everything we need.

08/23 Sermon Recap
A Word From the Throne | Revelation 1:1–8

Today we began our journey through the Seven Churches of Revelation with the truth that there is blessing from the Lord for the disciple who reads, hears, and takes to heart the words from the throne about who Jesus is, what He has done, and His coming again.

Three truths to carry with us:

📖 Realize the blessing for Christ’s true disciples.
The blessing comes through the revelation of Jesus, the public reading of His Word in the church, and not simply hearing His Word—but taking it to heart. This is why we must physically gather together as the Body of Christ.

🙌 Receive the greeting and reality of the Triune God.
Embrace His grace and embrace the reality of His perfection. Our God is complete, eternal, and worthy of our trust.

👑 Ready yourself for the coming of the Triumphant Lord.
Jesus is coming again.
• His coming will be seen by all.
• His coming will bring deep sorrow to those who have rejected Him.
• His coming will be in strength and victory.

Revelation calls us not merely to know more about the future, but to know Jesus, treasure His Word, and live ready for His return.

“Look, he is coming with the clouds,” and “every eye will see him.” — Revelation 1:7

Pursuing the Glory of God | August 16 Sermon Recap

📖 Psalm 1

Every day, we are faced with a decision: Will I pursue the glory of God, or will I pursue myself?

Psalm 1 shows us two very different paths…

The blessed path begins with the courage to say no. What we watch, what we scroll through, what we listen to, and whose counsel we follow all matter. What enters our minds reaches our hearts—and what reaches our hearts eventually impacts the direction of our lives.

But the blessed life isn’t only about what we refuse. It’s also having the delight to say yes to God: treasuring His Word, meditating on it, and moving from simply desiring Him to actually living in obedience to Him.

And ultimately, the blessed man of Psalm 1 points us to Jesus. The truly blessed life is found in Him. In Christ, our sins are forgiven, our lives have purpose, and we are able to pursue the glory of God.

The alternative is a path that Psalm 1 describes as useless, unstable, and ultimately undone.

May we be people who don’t simply know which path is better, but who choose it—day after day.

“God is most glorified in us when we are most satisfied in Him.” — John Piper

Sermon Recap from Sunday, August 9th:

SEEING HIS GLORY | Isaiah 6:1–9

When King Uzziah died, Isaiah was reminded of something we all need to remember in uncertain seasons: earthly kings may fall, circumstances may change, and the world around us may feel unsettled, but God is still on His throne. Our God reigns. 👑

And when we truly see God for who He is, we begin to see everything else differently. 👀

Seeing His holiness reveals the seriousness of our sin. We realize that we cannot approach a holy God on our own terms and that we have all fallen short of His glory. But the beauty of the Gospel is that God doesn’t leave us there. By His grace, He cleanses us, removes our guilt, and gives us a righteousness we could never earn for ourselves. ✝️

The more we understand His holiness, the more incredible His love becomes. And when we’ve seen His glory and experienced His grace, our response should be the same as Isaiah’s:

“Here I am. Send me!” 🙌🏼

We keep praying. We keep being faithful. We keep sharing the Good News, trusting God with the results. ♥️

May we live with a diminished view of self, an exalted view of God, and a willingness to go wherever He sends us. We’re simply beggars telling other beggars where to find bread. 🥖
