SUNDAY SERMON RECAP I Sunday, October 25th ✝️

Walking in Step with the Gospel I How to be a Faithful Church and a Fruitful Person
Galatians 2:11–21 📖

Yesterday, we were reminded that believing the right things about the gospel isn’t enough if our lives tell a different story. The gospel doesn’t just change what we believe—it changes how we live.

1️⃣ Walking in Hypocrisy Is Out of Step with the Gospel (vv. 11–14)

Peter knew the truth of the gospel, yet fear of others led him to act contrary to it. His hypocrisy didn’t just affect him; it influenced those around him.

Fear of man, the desire for approval, and the pressure to fit in can cause us to compromise what we know is true.

The gospel leaves no room for hypocrisy. Our conduct should reflect the Christ we proclaim, even when obedience is uncomfortable or unpopular.

2️⃣ Holding Firm to Sound Doctrine Is in Step with the Gospel (vv. 15–16)

We are not made right with God through good works, religious performance, or obedience to the law.

We are justified by grace through faith in Jesus Christ alone. Our salvation rests entirely on the finished work of Christ, not on anything we can accomplish.

Knowing and holding firmly to this truth protects us from placing our confidence in ourselves rather than our Savior.

3️⃣ Living by Faith Is in Step with the Gospel (vv. 17–21)

The law reveals our sin, but it cannot save us from it. Only Jesus can.

Through faith in Christ, our old way of life has been put to death. Our identity is no longer found in our ability to keep the law, but in our union with Christ.

We are not only saved by faith—we are called to live by faith.

As Paul declares in Galatians 2:20:

“I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me.”

A QUESTION FOR THIS WEEK:

Are there areas of your life where your actions contradict the gospel you claim to believe?

Are you living for the approval of others, or are you living faithfully for Christ?

May we be a church that not only knows the gospel but boldly lives it out.

A faithful church is made up of people who walk in step with the gospel.

📖 Sunday Sermon Recap | October 18, 2026

Seven Churches of Revelation: The Lukewarm Church
Revelation 3:14–22

This Sunday, we concluded our journey through the seven churches of Revelation with Jesus’ sobering message to the church at Laodicea. It was a wealthy, prosperous city whose people believed they had everything they needed. Unfortunately, that same attitude of self-sufficiency had made its way into the church. They believed they were rich and needed nothing, but Jesus revealed that they were spiritually bankrupt. Their greatest danger wasn’t persecution, poverty, or opposition. Their greatest danger was their lukewarmness toward Christ.

Through this passage, we were reminded of four important truths:

1️⃣ Jesus’ Character Is Clear (v. 14)

Jesus is the faithful and true witness, the sovereign Creator who sustains all things. His Word is trustworthy, His character never changes, and His truth—not our feelings or opinions—must guide our lives.

2️⃣ Jesus Condemns the Church and Its Condition (vv. 15–17)

The Laodicean church had become spiritually complacent. They were neither hot nor cold, offering little spiritual refreshment or healing to those around them. Jesus reminds us that full offering plates, impressive buildings, and outward success do not necessarily mean a church is spiritually healthy.

3️⃣ Jesus Counsels the Church to Repentance and Correction (vv. 18–19)

The church believed it had everything, but Jesus exposed its desperate need for Him. He called them to seek true riches, righteousness, and spiritual sight that only He could provide. His correction was not without love. Jesus disciplines those He loves, calling His people to turn from sin, self-reliance, and spiritual complacency.

4️⃣ Jesus Graciously Calls the Church to Restored Communion and to Conquer (vv. 20–22)

Despite their failures, Jesus graciously invited the church to restore its fellowship with Him. He desires more than religious routines, church attendance, or outward appearances. He desires an intimate, personal relationship with His people. We are called to hear His voice, repent, and open our hearts to renewed fellowship with Him.

As we conclude this series on the seven churches of Revelation, we are reminded that the warnings Jesus gave these churches still apply to us today. We must guard against losing our first love, compromising biblical truth, tolerating sin, becoming spiritually careless, and allowing worldly comfort to replace our dependence on Christ. ❤️

SUNDAY SERMON RECAP | October 11

📖 Remaining Faithful Until We Hear “Well Done”
Revelation 3:7–13 | The Church at Philadelphia

The world celebrates power, visibility, numbers, and success. Jesus celebrates faithfulness.

In His message to the church at Philadelphia, Jesus reminds us that faithfulness is not measured by our size, strength, or public success, but by our steady obedience to Him.

1️⃣ Christ Has Authority Over Every Door (v. 7–8)

Jesus is holy and true, and He holds the key! He opens doors no one can shut and closes doors no one can open. Our limitations never limit what Christ can accomplish in and through His church.

2️⃣ Christ Commends Steady Faithfulness (v. 8–10)

Even when our strength is small, Jesus sees our obedience. Faithfulness isn’t just demonstrated in the big moments but in the everyday decisions to keep His Word, stand firm in truth, and refuse to deny His name.

3️⃣ Christ Will Vindicate and Honor His People (v. 9–12)

Jesus sees every struggle, every act of obedience, and every moment of opposition. Though the world may reject or mock those who follow Christ, He promises His faithful people a permanent place in His presence.

💭 A question to reflect on this week: Am I faithfully keeping God’s Word, even in the ordinary and unseen areas of my life?

We don’t need worldly recognition to be successful in God’s eyes. We simply need to remain faithful to Him.

“The goal is not to be admired by the world; the goal is to be found faithful by God.”

May we be a church that stands firm, holds fast to His Word, and remains faithful until the day we hear, “Well done.” 🙌🏼

SERMON RECAP I Sunday, October 4th | Hope for a Dead Church
Revelation 3:1–6

A church can have a reputation for being alive while, in reality, being spiritually dead.

In His message to the church in Sardis, Jesus confronts the difference between reputation and reality. He knows our works, our struggles, our victories—and the true condition of our hearts. Life does not come from our reputation, our history, or having our name on a church roll. True life comes from Christ through the Holy Spirit.

What matters is not simply, “Do people think I know Jesus?” but “Does Jesus know me?”

Christ’s words to Sardis carry urgency: Wake up. Strengthen what remains. Remember. Repent. Remain faithful.

Following Jesus cannot be a life of spiritual complacency or simply coasting on what God has done in the past. The Gospel transforms us. Our desires change, our relationship with sin changes, and our lives increasingly pursue Christ.

It is not enough merely to profess Jesus—we must possess Christ through genuine faith in Him.

And the Gospel does not call us to become a slightly better version of ourselves. The Gospel calls us to come and die. To die to self, surrender to Christ, and find our true life in Him.

Yet even in this sobering warning, there is tremendous hope. Jesus sees and knows those who remain faithful. Their names are secure in the Book of Life, and Christ promises to confess their names before the Father.

May we never settle for the appearance of spiritual life. May we be a church that is truly alive in Christ—awake, repentant, faithful, and multiplying for the sake of the Gospel.
