A Prayer for Peace and Protection

Dear Friends,

As we enter Holy Week this year to intensifying hostilities in the world, we pause to offer a brief prayer for God’s grace and healing blessings.

“Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by name, you are mine. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you; when you walk through fire you shall not be burned…For I am the Lord your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior.” (Isaiah 43:1-3)

Heavenly Father,

You are our refuge and our strength. As we walk through this Holy Week, we ask that your love and grace would bring healing throughout the world.

We bring before you first today the members of our armed forces, our loved ones serving in difficult and dangerous places. Watch over them, body and soul. Give them a heart of courage, a mind of wisdom, and a spirit that doesn’t grow weary of kindness. Hold their families close in the grace of your peace.

We pray for every person impacted by the situation in the Middle East. We pray for the children, the mothers, the fathers, and the neighbors, in many nations. Wrap them in your protection. Be their shelter when they are weary, their strength when they are weak, and their hope when the way is hard.

We remember those on the ground, reaching out to help. Bless the medics, the aid workers, the chaplains, and all who labor to save life. Steady their hands and refresh their spirits. Let their care continue to be a reflection of your own heart.

We ask for a swift path toward healing. Guide the hearts of leaders and all who hold power. Where paths feel closed, open a new way forward. Where hearts have grown cold, soften them with your grace. Where there is fear, let your deep peace take root.

And we pray for our world overall, that justice would bloom, that peace would be cherished, and that every person could live without fear. We rest these deep longings in your hands, knowing you care for every soul in every nation.

And we ask all these things in Jesus’ precious name, Amen.
