Long before Indianapolis celebrated an official, structured Pride Festival, All Saints was on the front lines. We were among the first organizations—and stood as the *only* religious institution in Indianapolis—to publicly show up at early Pride gatherings, protests, and community demonstrations. From the early visibility of Billy Catchings to the steadfast advocacy of Jim Tomlinson (who represented All Saints alongside four other original community groups), we refused to let fear dictate our presence.

That fire only grew. Parishioner Troy Long took our witness to the next level, mobilizing and inviting participation from the entire Episcopal Diocese of Indianapolis. Thanks to the dedicated logistics of parishioners Josh Siege and Jeff Hostetter, alongside Fr. Tom Honderich, the Diocese carried a breathtaking field of 100 Episcopal flags and ribbons, proclaiming boldly that "God Loves You." This presence earned the contingent a 1st Place Award for "Best Walking Group," an honor accepted at the awards banquet by Jim Tomlinson and Bishop Cate Waynick.

We know who we were, we know who we are, and we know who we will be: a people who proclaim without apology that God Loves You. Join the legacy on Sunday, June 14 at 1:30 PM. 🏳️‍🌈✨

The vibrant culture of the LGBTQ+ community in Indianapolis has deep roots on Central Avenue. Did you know that the renowned Indianapolis Men’s Chorus () originated right here at All Saints? They held their very first rehearsals in our space before rapidly outgrowing it to become the thriving organization they are today. In fact, foundational early members, including Norm Brandenstein, remain active parts of our parish family.

Our worship continues to be explicitly shaped by those we have loved and lost. During our Special Pride Service on June 14 at 1:30 PM, our liturgy will feature "Jesus, Son of Mary", a moving piece composed by Fr. Don Melvin, the partner of our late Rector, Fr. Wayne Hanson, who contributed deeply to our music program. Before the piece is sung, our Choir Director, Ryan Brunkhurst, will provide a brief oral introduction to contextualize its tone and history.

We will also celebrate the Eucharist using our historic AIDS Chalice, commissioned by Fr. Wayne from a California artist and adorned with jewels underwritten by an anonymous donor. Come experience the living art and music that sustains us. 🎶🍷

In the darkest chapters of the HIV/AIDS epidemic—when fear, stigma, and systemic rejection turned so many away—All Saints stepped forward. Our parish was once the only place in our entire community willing to open its doors and hold sacred funeral services for individuals who knowingly died of HIV/AIDS.

Our institutional legacy is permanently intertwined with this fight. Our Rector Emeritus, Fr. Gordon Chastain, boldly served as the first Executive Director of the Damien Center, establishing vital support networks. Tragically, our history is also written in grief: our former Rector, Fr. Wayne Hanson, died of HIV/AIDS while actively serving this parish.

On Sunday, June 14 at 1:30 PM, we honor this sacred heritage during our Special Pride Service. Come view the National AIDS Memorial Quilt panels in our nave and honor those who paved the way. 🕯️

Join us this evening for a deeply moving edition of Conversations with All Saints, featuring Tracey Gray-Reed & Rick Reed.

Tonight, Tracey and Rick share their unique faith journeys, from Tracey’s 30 years as a practicing Buddhist to Rick’s life as a martial arts instructor and former police officer, and how they found a home at All Saints.

They also open their hearts by sharing their family's grief following the tragic loss of their 11-year-old granddaughter, QueenEr'Re, to gun violence on New Year's Day. It is a profound testament to love, ultimate loss, and what it means to lean into faith and community during life's darkest moments.

Join us this evening to listen to their story.
