IT’S NOT A PHOTO BOMB!
By Dr. Mark June 3, 2026 1 Comment

“But David said to Saul, ‘Your servant was tending his father’s sheep. When a lion or a bear came and took a sheep from the flock, I went out after it and attacked it, and rescued the sheep from its mouth; and when it rose up against me, I grabbed it by its mane and struck it and killed it. Your servant has killed both the lion and the bear; and this uncircumcised Philistine will be like one of them, since he has defied the armies of the living God.’ And David said, ‘The Lord who saved me from the paw of the lion and the paw of the bear, He will save me from the hand of this Philistine.’ So Saul said to David, ‘Go, and may the Lord be with you.’” (I Samuel 17:34-37 NASB)

What I am about to share with you is not about that new term, photo bombing. No, it is not about someone unexpectedly appearing in the camera field of view, really uninvited and at times ruining the picture. You see, what I want you to keep in mind today is that there is Someone who you should want to appear in your life views, every single frame of it, for He will not spoil it, He will improve it, every single time, if you just trust Him. As a matter of fact, if you are a faithful, believing, and praying saint, you should expect the Lord to show up in the figurative photos of your life. You should expect that because you can depend on Him and because you also know that He will be there to help you when other think you are standing all alone.

Yes, He is invisible to the naked eye. But He is definitely present in your situation. My friend, be like David as he was when he faced Goliath in the passage above. Then, if you will do that, whatever you are facing, whatever you are fighting against; whenever you are trying to forge your way through, no matter how formidable your situation seems; whenever your opposition seems gigantic and strong, know that the Lord is the One who will give you the victory.

If you want to call it photobombing, when it relates to God showing up in any of the “photos” of your life events, that’s okay with me. Better stated, I recommend you invite Him to join you in whatever you are obstacle, opposition, or opponent, you are facing or fighting, internally or externally. Look! His presences is not unwelcomed, but rather it is always undeniably preferred by believers.

Have a great day! Go and may the Lord be with you. Put God in your “photos.” Be blessed!

“For the LORD your God is the one who goes with you to fight for you against your enemies to give you victory.” (Deuteronomy 20:4 NIV)

THE TRACKS OF TIME
By Dr. Mark June 2, 2026

“I will bless you as long as I live…” (Psalm 63:4a The Living Bible)

As I sat on the couch watching the national news, my young granddaughter came up and sat beside me. Before I knew it she was running her finger across my forehead. Like going through a book, using your fingers to keep from losing your place, she went from one side of my forehead to another, tracing every horizontal crease she saw. After finishing the horizontal lines, she proceeded to follow the vertical lines near my eyes, lines in particular that I myself have tried, with no luck, to rub away! My granddaughter seemed amazed.

After tracing my lines, lines I refer to as the tracks of time, she started looking at both my ears. Again, she seemed to be amazed that while there was no scarcely no hair on my head, but there were little hairs that apparently had forgotten their way to my head and had taken a detour, ending up coming out of my ear, on the top of my ear, and were dangling like little earrings from my ear lobe. My granddaughter seemed to be fascinated in her examination and analysis, and she added some commentary that went something like this, about the hairs that had gone astray: “There is one here and one here! There is another one here and here.” It reminded me of one of those old science fiction movies, Soylent Green, where young people had never seen an old person before. She was amazed by the tracks of time she discovered.

I’m amazed too! But I am not amazed just by the tracks of time, but rather amazed more so by the number of years that the Lord has let my days roll on! Thank God! I’m amazed every day that I experience His grace and mercy! Praise the Lord! I’m amazed by the tracks of time for they would not have been present if it were not for the Lord who has brought me through many things in my life. Hallelujah! The tracks of time, well, they are not tough to deal with, but rather just another testimony and a sign of blessing! Praise God for each one of them!

Have a great day as you walk in His light today! Take some time and think about your tracks of time, whatever form they take. Realize they are an indicator of what the Lord has done for you over your years. Then, you will not be able to hold back your peace this morning! No sir! No ma’am! Be blessed!

“With long life I will satisfy him and show him My salvation.” (Psalm 91:16 NKJV)

THE SILENCE SIGNAL
By Dr. Mark June 1, 2026

“A time to rend, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak…” (Ecclesiastes 3:7 King James Version)

This is your Monday Short meditation. In 2019 I did some substitute teaching in one of the local township schools. I quickly learned that substitutes are not exempt from cafeteria duty. So, when I did not have recess duty, I took my turn doing cafeteria duty. I was not as vocal, and I lacked the voluminous tone as I performed this duty, compared to some of the regular teachers. You see, I thought it was okay for students to talk, laugh, and interact with their peers. Afterall, they had been quiet in the classrooms, quite obedient in suppressing their energies, and in walked in a straight line down the hallways all morning. The only nonquiet time was gym class. What seemed normal to me, and even healthy, was this was a time when the children could release some kilowatts of anxiety or where they could finally hold conversations, forging good relationships. I was apparently wrong. It did not take a long time during the short lunch break for the teachers on cafeteria duty to make a judgment call that the “noise” level was to high. Instead of shutting the doors, the teachers, some of them, would hold up their hands with two fingers; the silence signal, indicating that the students had to be absolutely quiet. In my estimation, this increased the kilowatts of anxiety and impeded or interrupted healthy socialization. But who am I to judge. I just have degrees in social science, education, and theology. So, perhaps I was not right in my thinking. You be the judge.

However, I will advise you that after you wake up and thank the Lord for a new day; after expressing gratitude for the activity of your limbs; after praising Him for watching you through the night, you should have a moment of silence, reflecting on our God. This admonition is your “silence signal.” Try being still and quiet. See if this does not help you go forward today viewing your interactions, incidents, and even interruptions through a godly prism. Again, I say, be still and try it…right now! Be blessed!

“Be still and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations; I will be exalted in the earth!” (Psalm 46:10 English Standard Version)

MANIFEST DESTINY
By Dr. Mark May 31, 2026

The Lord is not slow to do what He has promised, as some think. Instead, He is patient with you, because He does not want anyone to be destroyed, but wants all to turn away from their sins.” (2 Peter 3:9 Good News Translation)

Per the Brittanica Encyclopedia, Manifest Destiny was the 19th‑century belief that the United States was destined, by divine right, to expand its territory across the North American continent, from the Atlantic to the Pacific, and to spread its political and cultural ideals. The term was coined in 1845 by newspaper editor John L. O’Sullivan, who argued that annexing Texas and expanding westward was “our manifest destiny to overspread the continent allotted by Providence for the free development of our yearly multiplying millions.” Of course you remember studying this in high school history, a required class back in the day. If you were like me, you questioned the use of “divine right,” because the displacement of native Americans and the deplorable treatment that came with the institution of slavery and the mistreatment of immigrants by a people who were once themselves immigrant just did not seem “divine.” If I had lived in the 19th century, I would stand with those who opposed the manifest destiny belief as described in the annals of history.

However, if you want to talk about manifest destiny from a salvation perspective, I will support you because, after all, the Lord wants His kingdom to spread on this earth inasmuch as He desires not anyone to perish. You read the verse above, didn’t you?

Well, if you want to be involved in the right kind of manifest destiny, you have a divine right, better yet, a divine obligation, to do so. Let’s get busy! Be blessed!

“Jesus came up and said to them, “All authority (all power of absolute rule) in heaven and on earth has been given to Me. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations [help the people to learn of Me, believe in Me, and obey My words], baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe everything that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always [remaining with you perpetually—regardless of circumstance, and on every occasion], even to the end of the age.” (Matthew 28:18-20 The Amplified Bible)

IN A NUTSHELL
By Dr. Mark May 30, 2026

Tomorrow, Sunday, you will enter the house of the Lord for worship. That’s not a commandment from me, but rather a choice you have to make. It’s not a hypnotic suggestion, not and hyperbole, but rather it is just me hoping that you will be in the special presence of the Lord at your church, or if you don’t have a church home, the church that you choose to visit.

That opening paragraph was about tomorrow. Today I want to make sure you are aware of two “in a nutshell” passages found in God’s world. Read them before you rush out to do your Saturday thing. And then, think about what you have read.

The first “in a nutshell” passage I want to present to you is referred to “The Gospel in a Nutshell.” It is a familiar verse, one that will ensure the believer of where they will spend an eternity, and at the same time it is a verse that will help evangelize the lost. John 3:16 (NASB) says, “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life.”

The second “in a nutshell” passage comes from The Book of Acts where Paul is addressing a group of men in Athens, specifically on Mars Hill, found in The Book of. Acts 17:24-31. These verses are called “Theology in a Nutshell.” It reads as follows in the New American Standard Bible, “The God who made the world and everything that is in it, since He is Lord of heaven and earth, does not dwell in temples made by hands; nor is He served by human hands, as though He needed anything, since He Himself gives to all people life and breath and all things; and He made from one man every nation of mankind to live on all the face of the earth, having determined their appointed times and the boundaries of their habitation, that they would seek God, if perhaps they might feel around for Him and find Him, though He is not far from each one of us; for in Him we live and move and exist, as even some of your own poets have said, ‘For we also are His descendants.’ Therefore, since we are the descendants of God, we ought not to think that the Divine Nature is like gold or silver or stone, an image formed by human skill and thought. So having overlooked the times of ignorance, God is now proclaiming to mankind that all people everywhere are to repent, because He has set a day on which He will judge the world in righteousness through a Man whom He has appointed, having furnished proof to all people by raising Him from the dead.”

When you were a child, you might have found a plastic Easter egg on an organized hunt for youngsters. When you opened it, whatever was in it was just for you. Perhaps you were at a carnival and tried your best to pick up a box that was buried in a bundle of prizes. After spending much of your money or tokens, you finally got the box. Whatever was in it was just for you.

It’s not like that with the two “in a nutshell” truths that I have shared with you this morning. Don’t keep them to yourself! Share the contents with somebody else. Call your sharing “personal evangelism.” Well, enjoy your Saturday and your worship experience tomorrow. Be blessed!

“Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.” (Psalm 119:105 NASB)

CLOSE THE DOOR…
By Dr. Mark May 29, 2026 0 Comments

“So they went into the ark to Noah, by twos of all flesh in which there was the breath of life. Those that entered, male and female of all flesh, entered as God had commanded him; and the Lord closed the door behind him.” (Genesis 7:15-16 NASB)

Whoa now! The title “Close The Door,” may have started you singing a line from an old romance song where the next words were, “Turn out the light,” but that is not what this meditation is about! It is about action, but a different type of action than that old R&B favorite of yours suggest. This meditation is about closing those heavy doors that have proven hard to shut. Now there is evidence in the scriptures, including the verse above, that the Lord can shut doors and when He does, no one can open them. And we can find where He can open doors, and nobody can close them. We can even find out how He can make a door out of no way leading one to a better place. Three Hebrew boys would tell you about how God will be with you behind a closed door and deliver you when the fires of life try to destroy you. We know what God can do! We know that just as He closed the door on the ark and shut in Noah, his family, and the male and female of all flesh, when we accepted Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior, let’s put it this way, God closed the door on your eternal destiny. You ended up inside the camp of the righteous, inside the place where you could be sustained and find safety during the long storms of life, inside the ark of safety, inside the hand of Jesus where no one could sn**ch you out of His hand, and inside the proverbial “Old Ship of Zion.” We know about what God can do in the case of doors, but let’s take a look at your part in closing doors on your sanctification journey.

There are some heavy doors believers must close. I’m talking about heavy doors! I’m talking about doors that are made of past memories that harass us and even hurt our ability to walk the straight and narrow path of righteousness, doors that open up to old habits that are trying to hang around and are steadily pushing against our effort to close such doors, and doors that are near the doorsteps where intruding peers are trying to convince you to come out and join in their iniquitous pursuits and sinful playfulness. There are some heavy doors believers must close! Doors that lead to being unequally yoked in a relationship because your fleshly desires, the secular world, and Satan, all which try to convince you that anyone is better than no one. There are some heavy doors to close, doors that seem impossible to close, as if there is an obstacle in the way or it is as like the door has swollen to the point that there is no way on earth you can close them. Did you catch the last part of the sentence before this one, “no way on earth you can close them?” That’s true for some heavy doors! But there is a way not on earth; a way that has the Help of our God who is so strong and so mighty! But action on your part is required. You have to show some initiative! You have to take some action to close the door and when you find it hard to shut, that’s when the Lord will help you! That’s a good thing. Do you want to know why? Can’t nobody keep Him from shutting the door on anything, including bad habits, horrendous bad deeds from your past that are hanging over your head, hurtful deeds that you have been forgiven of, horrible, bad messed up lifestyles, bad self-esteem, bad role model influences, bad failings, and doing bad jobs in adhering to our familial roles! In all these cases with heavy doors that need to be closed, choose to take some action! And then, start closing the door, praying that the Lord will come to your rescue. God can help you! He can come to your rescue in a miraculous way, much like He closed the door on the Egyptians who were in pursuit of the Israelites as they crossed the Red Sea. The latter crossed on dry land. Not so with the former. Close the door…with the help of the Lord! Then God will “turn on the light” and He will show you a better way! As you read below, action was required of Moses. Hmmm! Enjoy your day! Be blessed!

“Then the Lord said to Moses, “Reach out with your hand over the sea so that the waters may come back over the Egyptians, over their chariots and their horsemen.” So, Moses reached out with his hand over the sea, and the sea returned to its normal state at daybreak, while the Egyptians were fleeing [right into it; then the Lord overthrew the Egyptians in the midst of the sea. The waters returned and covered the chariots and the horsemen, Pharaoh’s entire army that had gone into the sea after them; not even one of them remained.” (Exodus 14:26-28 NASB)

EXPERIENCE “THE NEW!”
By Dr. Mark May 28, 2026 1 Comment

“Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing!” (Isaiah 43:18-19a NIV)

Good morning! Great news! Today, a new day that you have never seen before, and it will be filled with “The New!” Experience “The New!” Start out with a new attitude because you have reason to rejoice being in the land of the living! Experience “The New!” Stretch your hands toward heaven and give God the praise for blessing you to wake up in your right mind, determined to handle whatever comes your way because right now, you have a new level of confidence that the Lord will see you through. Don’t dwell on the past but instead look to see the new thing that God will do in you and for you and around you! Experience “The New!”

Step up higher spiritually and set out physically to show that you are a child of God. Maybe you had a failing or two yesterday. But let that go! Experience “The New.” Yes. Our God of mercy and grace has given you a new chance. Make the most of it! Experience “The New.” Listen!

Because you have not been stagnant, but instead you have been doing your best in trying to adhere to the words of Jesus “Be ye perfect for My Father is perfect,” you have made perfect progress. Yes, praise God, for you have found out that it is true, “He that began a good work in you shall perfect it!” Therefore you are set, ready to live more holy on this day, better than yesterday! It’s your choice! But I suggest that you keep making progress today and experience “The New!”

Every step you make will be a new step! You may go to the same places and walk through the same thoroughfares and be around the same people. Yet, there is something that will make each step you take today new, and that something is you, one of the righteous ones, a member of a royal priesthood, one who belongs to a holy nation! Keep that in mind and experience “The New!”

I have not written much this morning, but I hope I have written enough to produce a new feeling inside you; a feeling that will show up on the outside. If, just in case, if you get pulled back to where you don’t belong emotionally, spiritually or relationally, fight it with the help of the One who is a very present help in the time of trouble. Pray! Ask the Lord to help you! Won’t He do it? Yes, He will! Why because He wants you to experience “The New!” Before you read the closing verse, give God some new praise right now! I guarantee that you will experience “The New!” Be blessed!
