TRANSFORMATION

And do not be conformed to the world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect, (Romans 12:2 NASB)
At our church Sunday it was The Next Generation Day. Honestly, it was the best young people’s program that I have attended in years. Young people ranging from children who are just graduating from pre-school to kindergarten to young adults with college backgrounds took over the whole program, except the teaching emphasis, the invitation to Christian discipleship and the benediction. Yes, they ushered, did the call to worship, sang from the choir stand with strong voices, as good as many adult choirs. About nine of the eleven youth making up the choir sang a solo part. Guess who did the welcome. The youth! Guess who did the announcements. The youth! Guess who did the altar call. The youth! The Pastor did not preach but a young adult who has attended the church most of his life spoke, Guess who introduced him. One of the youths.
My heart was filled all day long as I looked at God unveiling in a new generation. I was in awe as He ensured the church that the older generation’s legacy would be followed by the next generation’s legacy. It’s already begun! Amen! Let me make this your Sunday Share meditation by sharing the last point presented by our speaker, Again, let me remind you that you can see the whole service yourself on the Salt Of The Earth (Indianapolis) page. The last point, a much-needed point of emphasis made be the speaker was: “The Young Generation Can Transform the Previous (Older) Generation.” It is so true because of the vast number of Generation X adults who have choose not to attend church but rather send their children to church regularly where they benefit from the instructions from the word of God that will keep these young people from being transformed by the world. Nevertheless, they need to see what they learn modeled in the home. Here are some of the biblical, praise God, biblical examples from the text and supportive scriptures that were presented by our young laymen speaker. Look! God can use who He wants to deliver a sent message, So, here is the young man’s conclusion, sent for a specific purpose, specifically for you…and me. He said, and I quote:
“Let me give you some closing thoughts collected to the young generation impacting the previous generation. Can I give you just some examples? Joseph brought his father Jacob and his older brothers and their families into Egypt, not only saving them from the impact of the drought, by bringing them to a place where they could grow into a great nation, Israel. That’s the young generation impacting the previous generation. David in his youthful age defeated Goliath and saved his older brothers, older army, older king, and all who were older in Israel from the Philistines. That’s the young generation impacting the previous generation. Josiah became king and had impact on the older generation of Judah, implementing reforms based on the word of God after he found the books. That’s the young generation impacting the previous generation. Ruth impacted more people and generations than we can count by coming back to Bethlehem with Naomi. And then Ruth married her kinsmen-redeemer, Boaz, the great-great grandfather of David. And thus, showing up in the genealogy of our Savior, Jesus the Christ. That’s the young generation impacting the previous generation. Daniel a young man when taken into captivity, had an impact by refusing to compromise his faith in a foreign land. He impacted many older kings with his wisdom. His faith showed the previous generation, and even us, what faith in God will do. That’s the young generation impacting the previous generation. An unnamed boy shared his sack lunch of 2 fish and 5 loaves of bread so Jesus could feed a multitude of 5,000 men plus thousands of others, including members of his previous generation. Small means, but great results. But nevertheless, that’s the young generation impacting the previous generation.“
The young speaker went on, “Oh I have one more! Can I give one more, Jesus when he was a babe was brought into the temple, and Simeon experienced peace. Old Simeon said, “Lord, now let your servant depart in peace, according to your word; for my eyes have seen your salvation which you have prepared in the presence of all peoples, a light for revelation to the Gentiles, and for glory to your people Israel.” Lord, now let your servant depart in peace, according to your word; for my eyes have seen your salvation which you have prepared in the presence of all peoples, a light for revelation to the Gentiles, and for glory to your people Israel.” That’s the young generation impacting the previous generation. Jesus, years younger than a man who had been sick 38 years in his sickness, healed the man who was sitting near the pool of Bethesda.” That’s the young generation impacting the previous generation. Let me get y’all ready for in invitation. A young man, One who was all God and all man; One who took on flesh and dwelt among us; One who we call The Good Shepherd, The Light of The World, The Way, The Truth. And The life! The One who we call the Bright and Morning Star. A young man, One who the Prophet Isaiah said that He would be called Wonderful, counselor, Mighty God, the Everlasting Father, and the Prince of Peace. This young man was Jesus and He had and He is still having an impact on those young and those much older…those who would come and believe in their hearts and confess with their mouths the Lord Jesus and thus they will be saved. That’s the young generation impacting the previous generation.“
The young speaker, concluded by saying to you and me, “Perhaps you can use the word of God to transform the lives of somebody in the previous generation. The Lord will help you! May God bless you!”
