📖 Upcoming Fall Book Study brought to you by Northside Congregations for Housing (NCFH), a committee of the Greater Indianapolis Multifaith Alliance (GIMA).

Plan to attend the upcoming Multi-Faith book study! This fall, dive into the 2026 Pulitzer Prize winner for Non-Fiction, “There is No Place for Us: Working and Homeless in America” by journalist and anthropologist Brian Goldstone.

In this powerful book, Goldstone follows five Atlanta families facing housing insecurity, using their stories to shine a light on the systemic issues and “shadow realm” of working people who lack a fixed place to sleep at night. Explore how working families—besieged by skyrocketing rents, low wages, and inadequate tenant protections—are becoming the new face of homelessness in the United States, and discuss how to respond.

On Tuesdays, 6:30 - 8 pm the study will meet five times across eight weeks at four different Northside congregations.

Amid the slums of Calcutta, Mother Teresa offered a comforting smile, a kind look that gave dignity, and the light of Jesus in the darkness of great poverty. She found God in the poorest of the poor; she cherished them and became a mother to all. She is a powerful witness that “whatever we do for one of the least of our brothers, we do for Jesus” Matthew 25:40

Mother Teresa founded an order of sisters to work with her to serve the poorest of the poor, the Missionaries of Charity. Mother Teresa received the Nobel Peace Prize for her work. She refused the ceremonial banquet and instead asked that the $192,000 cost be given to the poor in India. She passed away in 1997 at the age of eighty-seven. Her tomb in India quickly became a place of prayer for people of all faiths, rich and poor alike.

In 2016, Teresa was canonized by Pope Francis and became known as St. Teresa of Calcutta. Her feast day is September 5. She is the patron saint of World Youth Day & the Missionaries of Charity.
