Stephen Bulgarian Eastern Orthodox Church is one of Indianapolis' oldest Orthodox Christian churches. Divine Liturgy is served Sundays beginning at 10:30 am. Sunday School for children ages six through 18 begins at 10:30 am. Special Services begin at 9:00 AM

Bulgarian School Indy meets every Saturday with classes beginning at 9:30am.

This Sunday, 05/31/26, the Holy Orthodox Church celebrates the Descent of the Holy Spirit upon the Apostles and the birth of the Church. ☦️💚

Divine Liturgy begins at 10:30 AM. May the Holy Spirit fill our hearts with peace, faith, and love.

The "All Souls' Day before Pentecost" Panachida will also take place during Sunday's service. Everyone is welcome to join us. Please bring a list with the names of your departed loved ones, as well as some food to share in their memory.

Ophelia Georgiev Roop, most resent in Indianapolis, died on May 18, 2026. She was born on January 3, 1946, in Kyustendil, Bulgaria as the first child of V. Rev. Boris and Raina Georgiev.

Ophelia’s father, V. Rev. Boris Georgiev and mother, Raina Gorgiev, predeceased her.
She is survived by her son, Zachary Roop, of CA, her sister and brother-in-law, Lilia and Steve Judson of Indianapolis, nephew with family, and cousins.

Funeral services will be officiated by Fr. Dimitur Angelov of St. Stephen Bulgarian Eastern Orthodox Church.

Visitation will be held from 2PM -4PM funeral service to begin at 4PM on Tuesday, May 26, 2026 all held at Aaron Ruben Nelson mortuary, 11411 North Michigan Road, Zionsville, IN
