Please make plans to attend our quarterly Spirituality Retreat THIS SATURDAY, September 12 at 9am! After breakfast and fellowship, join Father Thomas and friend of SJH Bonnie Masi for a retreat focused on telling our stories, embracing the power of music in our lives, and reflecting on God's constant and abiding presence.

The cost of the retreat is $25 which includes a copy of Bonnie's memoir (available for pickup in the Parish Office Monday-Friday, 9am-12noon) and breakfast, too! Stop by to grab your copy of the book (it's a short and sweet read), invite a friend or two, and please send the office an email to let us know how many people to expect!

Almighty God, you have so linked our lives one with another that all we do affects, for good or ill, all other lives: So guide us in the work we do, that we may do it not for self alone, but for the common good; and, as we seek a proper return for our own labor, make us mindful of the rightful aspirations of other workers, and arouse our concern for those who are out of work; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

Tonight at Common Ground, one of the saints we will reflect on is St. Rose of Lima (1586-1617): the patron saint of embroidery, gardening, and cultivation of blooming flowers, and the first person born in the Americas to be canonized as a saint! She is often depicted in art wearing a crown of roses referencing the Crown of Thorns (or holding a rose), a black and white Dominican habit, and a string of rosary beads.
