The Bible For Today 6.8.26
And we all, with unveiled face, beholding the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from one degree of glory to another. For this comes from the Lord who is the Spirit.
2 Corinthians 3:18
Unveiled Faces
After Moses received God’s Law on Mount Sinai, his skin glowed so brightly from the light of God’s presence that he covered it with a veil when he was with the Israelites. God’s glory made the people very aware of their unworthiness. They were under the Law of the old covenant, unable to see God and live. Likewise, in the temple, a curtain separated people from the Most Holy Place, the place of God’s presence.
By His death and resurrection, Jesus ushered in the new covenant. The day He died, the veil separating God and man was torn. Now all those who trust in Jesus for forgiveness and salvation no longer have to be afraid to stand in God’s presence. God no longer sees our sin, because the blood of Jesus covers it. Therefore, we can stand with unveiled faces before God, unafraid to stand before Him. And more than that, God gives us His Spirit, who works in our hearts to continue making us better image-bearers, children of God who look more and more like Jesus every day.
Lord Jesus, we praise You because You removed our covering of shame and opened the way so all can see God and live. Amen.
