West Hills United Methodist Church We are a friendly, welcoming church in Huntington Station. We fervently believe when Jesus said to love our neighbors, he meant ALL of them.

“As Jesus was walking along, he saw a man called Matthew sitting at the tax-collection station, and he said to him, ‘Follow me.’ And he got up and followed him.” — Matthew 9:9 📖

With two simple words—"Follow me"—Jesus invited Matthew into a new way of living, a new purpose, and a new relationship with God and others.

We hear that invitation, as well. Christ meets us where we are and calls us forward with grace, hope, and possibility.

💭 Where might Jesus be inviting you to follow him more closely in this season of your life?

The United Methodist Church's unique system of deploying clergy has its roots in the earliest days of Methodism.

"Each little flower that opens,
each little bird that sings,
God made their glowing colors,
and made their tiny wings." 🎶

"All Things Bright and Beautiful" (no. 147 in The United Methodist Hymnal) was written by Cecil Frances Alexander, an Irish writer, in 1848. It notes the work of God's creation in both the majestic--like "purple-headed mountains--and the minute--like an open flower. It invites in us an awareness of God's work around us.

🎵 "God gave us eyes to see them,
and lips that we might tell
how great is God Almighty,
who has made all things well."

💭 Where are you noticing God's good works today?

Hi all,

Tomorrow, May 24, at 10:00 AM, we will have a joint worship service at the United Methodist Church of Huntington Cold Spring Harbor. We will celebrate Pentecost Sunday and Heritage Sunday.

All are welcome, and if you are able, please wear red for Pentecost!

Aldersgate Day, celebrated on May 24 (or the Sunday closest), commemorates the day in 1738 when John Wesley experienced assurance of his salvation, or, as like to say, John Wesley felt his "heart strangely warmed."

The story goes that Wesley reluctantly attended a group meeting that evening on Aldersgate Street in London. Wesley wrote in his journal that at about 8:45 p.m. he was listening to a reading from Luther's Preface to the Epistle to the Romans.

"While he was describing the change which God works in the heart through faith in Christ, I felt my heart strangely warmed. I felt I did trust in Christ, Christ alone for salvation; and an assurance was given me that He had taken away my sins, even mine, and saved me from the law of sin and death."

As we celebrate Aldersgate Day -- and Pentecost -- we remember the power of the Holy Spirit that ignited a movement called Methodism -- and continues to ignite us into faithful and loving actions today!
