Christmas in September
The Hudson United Methodist Church is hosting a meatloaf dinner Wednesday, September 23 at 6:00 PM. The community is encouraged to attend. Help us with our mission to support Iowa deployed military personnel. Please bring items for holiday gift boxes to be complied and sent out by the Blue Star Mothers organization. Items they can use include individual sized snacks/drink packets, travel sized toiletries, puzzle books, cards, socks, and more... No aerosol or glass containers, please. Cash donations will be accepted. Make checks payable to the Hudson United Methodist church with the notation of Blue Star Mothers.

CARE PACKAGE SEASON IS HERE!

This is a mission close to our hearts.

For months, our Blue Star Mothers have been collecting, organizing, fundraising and preparing for the moment when these boxes begin their journey to our Service Members around the world.

Every snack. Every handwritten note. Every donated item. Every dollar raised. Every volunteer hour.

It all comes together for one reason — to remind our troops that home hasn’t forgotten them.

There is a lot of work ahead of us, but this is what we do. We are moms. We know how important it is for our sons and daughters serving far from home to feel that connection.

And this year, we’re ready to fill a whole lot of boxes with Iowa love.

We are helping with this project with another Christmas in September Event at the church. So get your stuff and bring it to church.

It’s care package season, Iowa!
Our 2026 Care Package Wish List is here, and we’re preparing 2,800 packages for our deployed troops and veterans!

But these packages are about so much more than the items inside. They’re a reminder that somewhere back home, someone is thinking of them, praying for them, and grateful for their service.

A favorite snack can bring back memories of home. A handwritten letter can lift someone’s spirits on a difficult day. A child’s drawing can bring a smile halfway around the world. And sometimes, the most meaningful gift is simply the connection that says, “We see you. We appreciate you. You haven’t been forgotten.”

This year, we’d love to fill our boxes with as many Iowa-made products as possible! If you know a local business, organization, school, or community group that would love to be part of this mission, help us make that connection.

Whether you donate items from our wish list, organize a collection, write a heartfelt note, or introduce us to an Iowa business, there’s a place for everyone in this mission.

Together, let’s send 2,800 reminders that no matter where they serve, our heroes will always have a little piece of Iowa waiting for them.
