St. Colman of Cloyne Catholic Church Our historical parish is the home of the Catholic Church in Fayette County, Ohio. From "Celebrating Our Past... Preparing for Our Future" 2007

The church building was restored to period splendor in 2010 thanks to an ambitious campaign by the people of the parish and its pastor. The small band of Irish immigrants who settled in Washington Court House in the middle of the nineteenth century had as their greatest desire the er****on of an edifice, pleasing to Almighty God, that would serve as an anchor of faith in a sea of adversity and a b

eacon of truth guiding wayward souls to the one, holy, catholic, and apostolic Church. Giving thanks to the Lord, these tenacious and faithful women and men joyfully sacrificed much so that the longing of their souls could be realized. For 120 years this anchor and beacon of faith and truth, which is Saint Colman of Cloyne Church, has stood at the corner of East East and South North Streets as the temple sacred to the Lord, where He who was crucified, died and risen from the dead has comforted and been present to His people in the celebration of the sacraments and in the day to day prayers and sacrifices offered before Him in the tabernacle. As we prepare to celebrate the 125 anniversary of the er****on of Saint Colman of Cloyne Church in 2010, we are tasked to ensure that this historic and holy monument to the Glory of God will continue to be an anchor and beacon for generations to come.

The Ohio Mass for Life will take place on Friday, October 2 at 9 am. Join us at St. Joseph Cathedral in downtown Columbus where Archbishop Casey of Cincinnati, Bishop Fernandes of Columbus, and Bishop Thomas of Toledo will celebrate the Holy Mass. The Ohio March for Life will kick off at 11 am, just a short walk away at the Ohio Statehouse.

🙏 On This Day, 21st August 1879: The Apparition at Knock

On the evening of 21st August 1879, fifteen people in the village of Knock, Co. Mayo, reported witnessing an apparition beside the south gable of their parish church.

They described seeing Our Lady, St Joseph and St John the Evangelist, with an altar nearby bearing a Lamb and a Cross, surrounded by angels.

The witnesses ranged in age from just five to seventy-four years old.

For close to two hours, they remained there in the pouring rain, watching and praying the Rosary. No words were spoken. The apparition at Knock was entirely silent.

That night would make the small Mayo village known across Ireland and far beyond. Generations of pilgrims have since travelled to Knock, making it one of the most important places of Catholic pilgrimage in Ireland.

Today, 147 years later, the events of that August evening are still remembered with prayer and devotion.
