Why "Vintage" Church? Vintage Church is located in Northwestern Desoto County in Horn Lake, Mississippi. Why the name “Vintage?” The Oxford American dictionary defines Vintage as “denoting something of high quality, esp. something from the past or characteristic of the best period of a person's work....” Our culture is consumed with all things “vintage.” We value all sorts of vintage items from cars to clothing and home decor. It seems, in a global age where culture shifts and collisions seem to happen more frequently and broadly, that there is a hungering for authenticity and originality and thus... all things Vintage! But does it point to something deeper within our soul’s? Does it point to something missing in life that is vital to our existence and yet fundamentally lost? Like a bad case of Deja Vu with no distinct memory but only a painful ache that something is missing and not quite right. The grand story of the Bible answers this question with a definitive YES. There is something lost and missing from life. The urge towards all things “vintage” is rooted in a massive spiritual need for humanity to reconnect with God. Fortunately, God has provided a means of reconnection. It is the Gospel of Jesus Christ. The Gospel isn’t religion or self help but rather the good news that broken people can find grace and hope in Jesus. The King of the Universe is advancing His Kingdom by reconciling people to Himself. Thus, the desire of Vintage Church is to see God’s kingdom advance by cultivating disciples who are.. Biblically informed: People need to understand the grand story of the Bible and find themselves within it. Authentic Worshippers: Worship is a genuine response to the Holiness and Goodness of God. Missional practitioners: God’s people are to be involved in God’s ministry of reconciliation.
