Ramadan in Hawai'i Is Almost Over, But the Lesson Doesn't Have To Be.

Ramadan is wrapping up in just a few days, and as Muslims here in Hawaii, we wanted to share something from this season that we think resonates way beyond our own faith community.

Whether you follow Jesus or the Buddha, the idea of setting aside your appetite to feed your spirit is something deeply familiar. Christians have Lent. Buddhist practice encourages letting go of craving and desire. And honestly, we all know that feeling of a spiritual discipline slowly turning into something more about the food and the gathering than the actual growth.

There is a teaching we keep coming back to this month. A few bites are enough to keep you going. Everything else is for the soul.

Here in Hawaii, we already live this in so many ways. We know how to slow down, care for our neighbors, and find meaning in simplicity. That spirit is something we all share across our different traditions.

As this season winds down, we wanted to leave you with a few questions worth sitting with:

Did simplicity make it to your table, or did the feasting take over?
Did anyone in need receive what you held back from yourself?
Did the quiet moments get filled with prayer and reflection, or just noise?
Are you ending this season closer to God, or just ready for the next meal?

The fast ends. The growth doesn't have to.

To FAST during Ramadan? 🌙

This Ramadan, The Existence Project invites non-Muslims to experience fasting firsthand!

Because fasting isn’t just about the food. It’s about discovering a version of yourself you didn’t know existed.

We’re offering support and resources throughout your entire journey — so you won’t be doing it alone.

Challenge yourself. Challenge others like you.

On Tuesday, November 4th, Murabbi Hashem Usman of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community had the pleasure of sharing an overview of Islam with the students of Chaminade University. The students read from the Holy Qur’an, the sacred scripture of all Muslims, and engaged in thoughtful questions about the faith of Islam.

We are sincerely grateful to Sister Malia Wong and Chaminade University for this wonderful opportunity and collaboration. We look forward to continuing to work together in fostering dialogue, understanding, and friendship in the future.

On Saturday October 18th, the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community of Hawai‘i was honored to participate in the Hawai‘i Conference of Religions for Peace (HCRP) gathering held at the Konko Mission of Honolulu under the theme “Choosing Peace; No More War.”

The event brought together faith leaders from diverse traditions who shared teachings from their scriptures and traditions about peace and harmony. Murabbi Hashem Usman presented the teachings of Islam-Ahmadiyyat essential for establishing lasting peace and led the audience in an Abrahamic prayer from the Holy Qur’an.

We thank HCRP and all participating faith communities for their continued efforts to promote understanding, compassion, and unity across Hawai‘i.
