As we celebrate the Feast of St. Clare of Assisi we recall her efforts, along with St. Francis, to renew the Church of the 12th century. Clare and Francis found a church in decline, but the Holy Spirit inspired them with a passion to rebuild the Church by living out the radical love and poverty of the Gospel. May we, the people of Holy Innocents, St. Mark’s, and the West Point Canterbury Club imitate St. Clare as we follow God’s call to rebuild the Church in our own day and age.

What does it mean to be a liturgical church?

Liturgy is a structured pattern of public worship and ministry based in ancient traditions. Our liturgies are all found in the Book of Common Prayer (common meaning shared in community). Rite I liturgy uses Elizabethan English familiar to those who know the King James Version, and Rite II is contemporary language, either way the structure is the same. It's steady and familiar, yet the church seasons change things up just enough to keep us alert.

If you enjoy kneading, or knitting, or running, you know how soothing a steady rhythm is for your mind and body.
