This study is personal to me.

I had the opportunity to stand in the City of David in Jerusalem with archaeologist Eli Shukron and walk on the actual stones connected to the ancient Pilgrimage Road. Standing there changed the way I read these fifteen Psalms. They were no longer simply words on a page—they became the songs of people making a real climb toward the presence of God.

Every January, I ask the Lord for a word for the year. Something to build my whole year around.

For 2026, He gave me one word: Afterwards. And He anchored it in a promise — Joel 2:28. "And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my of Spirit upon all flesh." That word sat with me all through a January Daniel Fast, and by the time I stepped into the pulpit, it wasn't just my word anymore. It became an eight-week sermon series at Sandy Run. Here's the thing — as I preached through it week by week, I kept seeing the same pattern. Fifty days in Scripture that don't get near enough attention: the days between Passover and Pentecost. Between the Cross and the coming of the Holy Spirit. Thomas doubting. Peter drowning in shame by a charcoal fire. Two heartbroken travelers on the road to Emmaus, not even recognizing Jesus was walking right beside them. Every one of them thought their story was over.
It wasn't.

So I took each of those eight sermons and broke it down into five devotions — forty in all — to walk you through those fifty days, Monday through Friday. That's by design, folks. You get five days of Scripture, reflection, a journal question, and prayer. Then two days — Saturday and Sunday — with no new devotion, just space. Space to sit with what God said that week. To really pray into it. To let it work on you before you move to the next.

That's AFTERWARDS: A Forty-Day Journey from Passover to Pentecost — born out of a word for a year, preached from a pulpit, and now in your hands as a daily walk. I want to ask you something that most church folks have never been asked directly.

Think of someone you know — someone who used to be in church every Sunday. Knew every song. Led a small group. Prayed out loud without blinking. And then one day... they were just gone.

Here's the question: What happened to them spiritually?
Did they lose their salvation? Did they prove they were never really saved to begin with? Is that even possible — or is God's grip stronger than any choice they could make?

These aren't trick questions. They're some of the most important questions in the Christian life — and two of the most serious, Scripture-honoring traditions in church history land in completely different places on the answer.

We're going to look at both sides. We're going to read the actual verses. And then you're going to have a chance to figure out what you believe — and why.

🎵 He ran the 24-hour praise cycle in David's Tabernacle.

He played bronze cymbals before the Ark of the Covenant.

Kings commanded their Levites to sing HIS songs alongside David's.

Even after 70 years of Babylonian exile — 128 of his descendants came home and rebuilt Israel's worship from the ground up.

His name was Asaph.
And this man — the chief worship architect of an entire nation — almost lost his faith.

Come on, somebody. If it could happen to HIM...
Here's the thing — Asaph didn't lose it because he stopped believing in God.

He lost his footing because he started watching the wrong people.
And I think a whole lot of us know exactly what that feels like.

This Sunday I'm bringing a message I've been sitting with for a while.

It's called "When You Forget To Remember" — and Asaph is going to walk us right into the one place where everything changes.

Not a building.
A presence.

🏛️ Sandy Run Family — this Sunday matters.

There's something powerful about hearing a message from the person who first heard the call to build what you're now a part of. This Sunday, June 7th, our Founding Pastor, Rev. Lavon Overstreet, will be ministering in our main service 10:45am — and he's bringing a word rooted in the very foundation of Sandy Run Worship & Praise Center.

Before there was a congregation, there was a calling.
Before there were members, there was a mission.
Before there was a building, there was a burden placed on one man's heart.

The man we call Pastor answered that call — and what God birthed through his faithfulness is the church family you call home today.

This Sunday, he's not just attending. He's speaking from the foundation — reminding us who we are, what we were built on, and where God is calling us next.

1 Corinthians 3:11 tells us there is no other foundation than the one already laid. This Sunday, we go back to that foundation — and we build forward from it.
