Sandy Run Church

Sandy Run Church Sandy Run was founded upon the principles of Christ as they are revealed in the Bible, the Word of God.

Because of the rescuing hand of Jesus, Sandy Run Church pursues personal transformation, one life at a time. To that end, Sandy Run Church has committed to pour into next generation leaders as a primary means to advance the Kingdom of God through the local church by fulfilling the mandate to be equippers of the saints for ministry. It has its foundation of faith and practice in the Scriptures and

the vital experience of its constituents is scripturally oriented. Evangelical is the term used to describe those who affirm the primary doctrines revealed in the Scriptures. These doctrines include the inspiration and authority of the Word of God; the Trinity; the deity and virgin birth of Jesus Christ; salvation by faith in the atoning death of Christ; His bodily resurrection and ascension to the right hand of the Father; the ministry of the Holy Spirit; the second coming of Christ; and the spiritual unity of believers in Jesus Christ. In 1896, many Christians experienced a spiritual outpouring they identified as the baptism of the Holy Spirit. Because it was so similar to the experience of the early Christians on the day of Pentecost, it came to be called a Pentecostal experience, an enrichment of the Christian life through the power of the Holy Spirit. The principle distinctive of Sandy Run as a Pentecostal organization is its belief in speaking with other tongues as the Spirit gives the utterance and that this is the initial evidence of the baptism in the Holy Spirit.

Happy Mother's Day, Sandy Run family! 🌸
We want you to know that our Founding Pastor, Lavon Overstreet, was scheduled to be with us tomorrow — and we are so looking forward to that Sunday when it comes! Due to a scheduling conflict, Pastor Lavon will be joining us at a later date. Stay tuned — that's going to be a great one!

But here's the thing — you are still invited to join us for a SandyRun Sunday and Mother's Day Celebration, and we believe God has already ordered this day!
Pastor Chuck will continue our spring series, "Afterwards" — and this week's message could not be more fitting for Mother's Day. We're calling it "Afterwards — Wait Here."
We're going to spend some time with a mama who knew something about waiting.

Mary didn't just witness the story of Jesus — she carried it. Before the world ever heard His name, she was already saying yes in the dark. An angel showed up with an impossible announcement, and this young woman looked heaven in the face and said "Be it unto me according to thy word." Then she waited. Nine months of whispers, stares, and questions she couldn't fully answer — trusting a promise she couldn't fully explain.

She was there when He drew His first breath. She was there when He drew His last. And when they laid Him in that tomb, nobody's heart broke like Mary's broke. But she didn't walk away. She waited.
And then — on the other side of the worst weekend in history — she was still standing. Still believing. Still there.

Come Acts chapter 2, when the disciples gathered in that upper room waiting on the Promise of the Father, Scripture tells us Mary was right in the middle of them. She had waited for His birth. She had waited through His death. And now she was waiting for His Spirit.
Folks, Mary didn't just birth the movement — she outlasted every reason to quit and waited it all the way through.

That's a word for every mother in the room who is still holding on to something God promised you. Don't you leave that upper room.

We'll see you in the morning! Bring your mama, your family, and an expectant heart. 🙌

"Change The Recording"

A mentor and friend of mine — Tom Telesco — gave me something a while back that I haven't been able to put down.

Studies show that by the time we reach seventeen years old, the average person has heard "No, you can't" about 150,000 times — and "Yes, you can" about 5,000 times.

That's 30 no's for every single yes.

Here's the thing — that kind of math doesn't stay in childhood. It follows you right into the boardroom, the pulpit, the mirror every morning. And what starts as somebody else's voice eventually starts sounding like your own.

Proverbs 23:7 says it plainly: As a man thinks in his heart, so is he.

Your heart is listening to everything you say about yourself, folks. Every single word.

So Tom's challenge was simple — and I want to pass it on to you today. He called it "Change The Recording."

Every hour, take notice of the conversations going on inside your own head. When that old recording starts playing — you're not enough, you can't do this, who do you think you are — re-script it. On purpose. With intention. Out loud if you have to.

Is it going to take work? Absolutely! But it starts with something as simple as this —

Write your name down. And beside each letter, write a word or phrase that tells the truth about who you actually are.

I'll go first.

C — Called — before I ever had a title, I had a purpose.
H — Helpful — my first instinct is always "how can I serve?"
U — Unwavering — my faith doesn't flex with my circumstances.
C — Connector — I build bridges between people and their potential
K — Kingdom-minded — every decision I make runs through a higher filter.

Now you try it. Put your name in the comments and give us one word — just one — beside the first letter. Let's change some recordings together today.

You must be careful how you speak to yourself.

Your heart is listening. 🙏

Sunday is on the way! The darkest day in Kingdom history brought forth the greatest Light the world will ever know and opened the door to your Divine Purpose!

It was an honor to be the first guest in the new Cory Lee Show Podcast studio!
Cory Lee is more than a gifted interviewer—he's a spiritual leader, a friend, and someone who asks the kind of powerful questions that reach into the depths of your soul. With no script, just authenticity and purpose, we dove into a conversation about identity, calling, and the profound moments that shape who we become.
"Are You Ready To Discover Your Purpose?"
In this episode, I share about standing on the pinnacle of the Temple Mount, walking through Hezekiah's Tunnel, and worshiping on the Sea of Galilee—sacred moments where God revealed something powerful about my calling and identity. We explore one of the most critical truths for leaders and believers alike:
"When purpose is not known, abuse is inevitable."
When you don't know who you are, you'll live beneath what you were created for. I open up about a leadership evaluation that forced me to confront my own disconnection, how I discovered my life's purpose, and how everything changed once I aligned with what God truly created me to do. You'll hear about the moment on the Sea of Galilee when I realized I had been spiritually standing there for years before ever setting foot on the water.
This conversation spans faith, leadership, Israel, and the journey from confusion to clarity. If you've ever wondered who you really are or what you're meant to do, this episode will meet you right where you are.
Join us for a powerful conversation with one of the greatest interviewers I've ever had the privilege to sit with.

Thank you, Cory, for your friendship, your leadership, and for creating space for conversations that matter.

What if the greatest battle you’re facing isn’t about what you’re doing—but about who you are?In this powerful and deeply moving episode of The Cory Lee Show...

The Healing Conversation

TREATMENT #3:
Pray every day.

Really talk to your Heavenly Father.

Not religious words. Not fancy prayers. Just honest, raw conversation.

Spurgeon said: "Whether we like it or not, asking is the rule of God's Kingdom."

God invites us to talk to Him. To ask. To speak. To reconnect through prayer.

Make it simple:
• Morning: "God, I need You today. Help me."
• Throughout the day: "Thank You." "Please help." "I'm sorry."
• Evening: "What did You want to teach me today?"

Prayer doesn't have to be long.
It just has to be real.

Here's a prayer to start:
"Father, I've drifted. I've lost focus. Meet me here. Heal what's broken. I trust You. Amen."

Will you pray today?

You Can't Fight Alone

TREATMENT #2:
Tell someone you're spiritually sick.

Cancer patients don't fight alone. Neither should you.

The Christian life was never meant to be lived in isolation.

Find someone you trust and say these words:
"I'm struggling. I need help. Will you walk with me through this?"
Why this matters:
•Hiding makes things worse
•Shame grows in the dark
•Community brings healing
•We need people who will pray for us and check on us

Who can you tell?
•A close friend
•A pastor
•A small group member
•A family member who loves Jesus

Say it out loud this week:
"I'm spiritually sick and I need help."
Healing starts with honesty.

Medicine for the Soul
TREATMENT #1: Read your Bible daily.

Let God's Word pour into you like medicine into your veins. This isn't optional. This is treatment.

C.S. Lewis said: "I believe in Christianity as I believe the sun has risen—not only because I see it, but because by it I see everything else."

Scripture helps us see clearly again.

Here's how to start:
Pick a time each day (morning works best for most)
Start small (even 5 minutes counts)
Read one chapter or one Psalm
Ask God: "What do You want me to see here?"

Physical cancer patients never miss their treatments.
Will you commit to not missing this one?

There Is a Cure
Spiritual Chemotherapy That Works
Here's the good news: God hasn't lost you.
Even when you feel far from Him, He has a treatment plan that works.

Think about cancer patients. They get chemo through IVs. It's hard. They feel awful. Hair falls out. But over time, with faithful treatment, healing comes.

Spiritual healing works the same way.

It requires:
Commitment
Consistency
Trust in the Doctor (God)

The treatment is simple but not easy. It has four parts. And here's what I've learned: patients who stick with it get better.

Ready for the treatment plan?

The Symptoms (Part 2)

Four More Warning Signs
Continuing our look at spiritual cancer symptoms:
✓ Busyness replaces everything. We're always moving but never arriving. Our faith walk turns into a faith stumble.

✓ Screens become our constant companion. Apps, texts, emails, sports, shows, social media—all drowning out God's voice.

✓ Anger or disappointment takes root. Whether it's at God, others, or our situation, these feelings poison our peace.

✓ Lies become our truth. False beliefs about God, ourselves, or His love become walls between us and Him.

Spurgeon wrote: "The heart has been occupied with something else, more than with God. A jealous God will not be content with a divided heart."

Recognize any of these?

Don't panic. There's hope. Treatment starts tomorrow.

Your Friend,
Pastor Chuck
