*Call to Worship
Family of God, we live in a world full of conflict and division.
God calls us to be a people of reconciliation.
We live in a world full of misinformation and confusion.
God calls us to be a people of truth and clarity.
We live in a world that wants to settle disputes with harmful words and actions.
God calls us to be a people who make peace through compassion and honesty.
We live in a world that does not understand the ways of Jesus.
Yet Jesus teaches us to be a people of reconciliation and peace for the good of the whole world. Thanks be to God! Amen.

*Praise Hymn “Go Down, Moses” #448 vs 1-4

*Prayer of Confession:
When we offer God our confession, we join the beautiful work of reconciliation, which begins with our reconciling with God. Trusting in our Partner in grace, let us make our confession, first in silent prayer.
Silent confession.
Gracious and loving God, open our hearts so that we are able to admit to you the fullness of our lives – that which is beautiful and good, and that which is hurtful and hateful. We confess that we do not follow Jesus in all that we do. We love with condition. We judge and condemn. We cast the first stone and keep the logs in our own eyes. We do not turn to You as the source of our healing. Forgive us, we pray. Forgive our sin and empower us to be imitators of Christ in love and service. Amen.

Assurance of Forgiveness
Friends in Christ, know this: the mercy of God is from everlasting to everlasting, and I remind you of this surpassing grace – in the name of Jesus Christ, you are forgiven.
In the name of Jesus Christ, you are forgiven. Alleluia! Amen.

*Call to Worship
Sometimes God calls us through burning bushes, telling us to go free a whole people despite our insecurities and fears.
God, help us accept your call on our lives.
Sometimes God calls us, and we don’t understand the full meaning of the call, the ways our families, friends, and communities may resist the good news and us as messengers of it.
God, help us accept your call on our lives.
Sometimes God calls us to a path that is harder than we think we can handle, asking us to trust that God will provide what we need.
God, help us accept your call on our lives.
Beloved, God’s call takes many forms. Sometimes it feels as natural as breathing, and sometimes we want to run as far as we can. But take assurance in this: You are not alone. God is with us, and God’s call can be trusted, because no matter where it leads, God is there.
God, help us accept your call on our lives and to trust that what you equip us to do is what you call us to do as members of the Body of Christ. Thanks be to God! Amen.

*Praise Hymn “Holy Ground” TFWS #2272

*Prayer of Confession:
Christ Jesus, our teacher and our friend, we have not listened for your word amid the clamor of words all around us. We are more pleased to repeat familiar tunes than to listen for new melodies and strange harmonies. We try harder to defend what we think we know than to reach for that which is beyond our grasp. Slow to trust, afraid of the unknown, we are cautious to hear and do your will. We pray for hearts to pay attention to the cries of our neighbor and to resonate with your Spirit. Silence us and instruct us until we learn afresh to sing the songs of faith, hope, and love. Amen.

Assurance of Pardon
There is no greater joy in the heart of God
than the moment when a child opens
to the gift of forgiveness.
God’s Spirit reaches out to assure us
of welcome in Christ.
In the name of Jesus Christ, you are forgiven.
In the name of Jesus Christ, you are forgiven.
Glory to God! Amen.

On Sunday, Pastor Kendra invited all children who are heading back to school to come forward with their backpacks. With joy and tenderness she offered a blessing over them-praying for their safety, their confidence and the year of learning ahead. She reminded them that God walks with them into every classroom, every challenge and every new experience. After the blessing with the children, she called forward the college students, teachers, and school staff. A reminder that the church supports their journey.
