We all have "bitter" places in our lives. For some of us, it’s a physical diagnosis or a body racked with chronic pain. For others, it’s an emotional wound from a betrayal, a mental battle with anxiety and cloudiness, or a deep spiritual emptiness.

When life turns bitter, our natural reflex is to complain, try to mask the taste, or pull away from God entirely. But this Sunday, as we move into Week 8 of our sermon series "Know Him: Discovering the Heart of God," we are going to meet God in the middle of our dry deserts and discover His name of restoration: Jehovah Rapha—The LORD Who Heals.

This week, we are making a bold, scriptural declaration that physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual healing are direct provisions of our covenant with God. Grounded in the truth of Isaiah 53 and 1 Peter 2, we will look at how Jehovah Rapha operates across every single dimension of our lives:

Physically: Mending our bodies and curing diseases.

Emotionally: Binding up the brokenhearted and crushed in spirit.

Mentally: Restoring sanity, clarity, and peace of mind.

Spiritually: Forgiving our sins and thoroughly purifying our souls.

We live in a world that praises self-sufficiency. We are told to "be our own boss," "find our own way," and "manage our own destiny." But if we are honest, trying to shepherd our own lives is exhausting. It leaves us anxious, restless, and constantly looking through the fence wondering why we still feel empty.

This Sunday, we are stepping into Week 7 of our series "Know Him: Discovering the Heart of God," and we are looking at one of the most comforting—yet deeply humbling—names in Scripture: Jehovah Rohi—The LORD My Shepherd.

To take comfort in this name, we first have to admit something hard: we are sheep.

If you are tired of running, tired of scheming, and tired of trying to manage the pasture on your own, this Sunday is for you. Come find the rest that only comes when you hand the staff over to the Good Shepherd.
