With summer break in full swing, we're seeing more kids out enjoying e-bikes and scooters around the county. They are a great way to have fun and get around, but they also come with real responsibilities.

Many e-bikes can travel between 15 and 28 mph, and some models can go even faster. Take a few minutes to remind your children to stop at stop signs, watch for traffic, and stay alert. If they're riding on sidewalks, they should slow down and watch for pedestrians. Most importantly, every ride should start with a properly fitted helmet.

Drivers, we need your help too. Please be extra cautious as you travel through our communities. Look twice before pulling through intersections or stop signs, and keep an eye out for kids who may be approaching more quickly than expected.

A little extra attention from all of us can help make sure everyone has a safe and enjoyable summer.
