How can I change my life? That dusty Bible on your shelf has a lot to say about that very thing. If you're like most of us, it's not easy to know where to begin - we'd like to help. Join us for Bible study at 10 each Sunday morning and worship at 11 at Greenfield Baptist Church (Fairmont Road, Gretna.) This week we'll begin a sermon series on the Longest Song: Psalm 119. There are a 176 verses - all of them about God's Word.

OTD in 1873, 32-year-old Lottie Moon left the United States for China, just weeks after being appointed as a missionary by . After more than a month at sea, she arrived in China and began a missionary ministry that would last nearly 40 years.

Moon became one of the most influential missionaries in Southern Baptist history, advocating not only for reaching China with the gospel, but also for more missionaries and greater support from Baptists back home.

“If I had a thousand lives to give, I would give them all for China.”

It was indeed a great honor for me as the pastor at Greenfield Baptist Church to lead the ordination service for our two new deacons, Robbie Mahan and Mandy Bennett. Both have been faithful leaders who fit their new "serving" role well!

Even though we know better, we have a tendency to think problems, conflict, within churches is something new. In the very first church, (Acts 6,) a problem broke out and without hesitation, Jesus' Apostles acknowledge it, resolved it and returned to their purpose. What was their answer? "Deacons" or "one who serves."

We hope you will join us at Greenfield Baptist Church this coming Sunday, (August 30th,) for worship at 11 as we examine together the issues in the first church and the role of deacons in Acts 6. We will also have a deacon ordination service for Mandy Bennett and Robbie Mahan during our worship service.

We're on Fairmont Road, just minutes from the traffic light in Gretna on 40 East. Come on early and you will find yourself right at home!

There's an old brick in my office that I picked up on the site my elementary school once sat. Earlier in the week, I watched the wrecking ball knock down a precious part of my childhood. That brick remains as a reminder of all the building blocks developed during my first six years of school; things I learned; more importantly, the friends I made and still have today.
We're reminded in 1 Thessalonians 3 that even when overwhelmed with trouble, we can find encouragement knowing God can and does build us up even when recking balls seem to tear us down. We'll examine this a little closer this Sunday morning, (Aug. 23rd,) at Greenfield Baptist Church, (Fairmont Road,) in our worship at 11. We're just minutes from the traffic light in Gretna on 40 East, so, just come on in and you'll find yourself at home!

"You became examples to all..." 1 Thessalonians 1:7

Studies indicate that many who attended church as a child leave as teenagers and never return. Why? Even the attraction of contemporary worship, dynamic preaching / teaching and even the allure of nostalgic surroundings doesn't keep them connected into a church.

The fact is: people are looking to witness genuine, transformed lives inside the Church building. That's not something we replicate; it is only through God's power. We are able to talk a good talk but fall short in our walk. So, how do we go about walking our talk?

Let's look at that together this coming Sunday morning, (Aug. 16th,) in our worship at 11 AM at Greenfield Baptist Church, (Fairmont Road, Gretna.) Come on early at 10 for Sunday School and just make yourself at home. We're just a few minutes from the traffic light in Gretna on 40 east.
