The men's spirits were broken by overwhelming fear of the giant before them. They were outnumbered, outclassed, and outgunned by the technology of their enemy. They were defeated before even one foot stepped out into battle. Then a boy bringing lunch to his brothers arrived.
David had the same challenges, the same giant to face, yet he trusted God instead of the fear telling him to run. God gave him the courage to face the giant and God gave the victory.
Most of our overwhelming challenges do not look like the Philistine giant, Goliath. Yet, they can be just as frightening.
We hope you'll join us this Sunday, June 21st, at Greenfield Baptist Church (Fairmont Road, Gretna,) to examine David's story in 1st Samuel 17, "God Is Bigger Than My Giant." Our Father's Day worship service begins at 11 and includes a special presentation from our children's department.
