WHERE ARE OUR GENERATION’S WILLIAM J. SEYMOUR, ELDER LUCY SMITH, AND KATHRYN KUHLMAN?
WARNING.
I grew up spiritually sitting at the tables of generals. I remember preaching for my spiritual father alongside Kenneth E. Hagin, R.W. Shambach, and others.
One thing I noticed immediately was that they were unwavering in their conviction, and everything they built was built on the foundation of faith. They didn’t read a book and then do what the book said. They didn’t hear a good idea or a trending topic and run with it. They did not build a massive following by applying lessons learned from an institution or organization. They carried mantles that were literally sent directly from Heaven.
They were not just preachers. They were movement makers. They were people who had seen the power and glory of God and were determined to mark their generation. Their pathway and their process were different.
My concern now is that some people are building in the flesh and being seduced by three things: opportunities, finances, and networking. Why do history books record William J. Seymour, Elder Lucy Smith, and Kathryn Kuhlman as generals? It certainly was not because they learned and worked a system. It was because they were authentically marked by God.
It is wicked when you are called to carry a particular mantle and you allow seduction to pull you out of it. This will be measured at the end of your life, and your place in history will be vacated. You may have what others call “success,” but you will not make the kingdom imprint on your generation that Heaven intended.
Why do we shortcut? Convenience. Frustration. Human frailty.
I am issuing a stark and severe warning: the future of the Church is hanging in the balance. Come out from man’s plans. Come out from your love of ministry and your lust for “success.” Get on the floor and cry out to God.
Paul said his preaching was not with persuasive words of human wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power, so that faith would not stand in the wisdom of men but in the power of God. (1 Corinthians 2:4-5) That standard has not changed.
Don’t build a Bible study or a church until you have Heaven’s why. Turn your phone off. Stop watching videos of everyone telling you how to build your ministry while you are ignoring what God says. Stop looking for notoriety. Stay fixed on the King.
Dare to actually be a mantle carrier and not just another discount church planter or leader with packaged messages pulled from a playbook but no weight or authority behind your life.
I cannot guarantee you will be “successful” by man’s terms, but I can assure you that you will have a miraculous journey. I can say with full confidence that you will not just read revival history as an observer. You may write some of it. Your life will be anointed. Your path will be wild and rich with God’s raw fire and tenacity.
WHERE ARE OUR GENERATION’S WILLIAM J. SEYMOUR, ELDER LUCY SMITH, AND KATHRYN KUHLMAN?
Where are the marked and mantled ones? Where are the peculiar ones? Where are the daring ones?
Heaven is still issuing mantles. The question is who will pay the price to carry one.
🙏
