The Table is set! Convention starts this week!

This year we are pleased to welcome Bishop Robert Schnase as our guest speaker. Robert Schnase, originally from south Texas, is a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin and Perkins School of Theology. As the pastor of United Methodist congregations for 21 years along the Texas border with Mexico, he focused on reaching younger generations in bicultural settings. He was elected bishop in 2004 and assigned to the Missouri Conference, and later the Rio Texas Conference and the New Mexico Conferences of the UMC, before his retirement in 2024. Schnase is a frequent guest speaker and teacher and is the author of several books, including Five Practices of Fruitful Congregations, Five Practices of Fruitful Living, Practicing Extravagant Generosity, and Just Say Yes: Unleashing People for Ministry. He and his wife, Esther, live in San Antonio where he enjoys birding, traveling, writing, and long daily walks.

We have a limited supply of Bishop Schnase’s book on sale at convention

It is with sadness, yet with the hope of eternal life, we report that The Rev. John Hopkins, a retired priest of the Diocese, died on August 16, 2026.

A memorial service in the Diocese of Albany will be scheduled at a later date.

Rest eternal grant unto him, O Lord; let light perpetual shine upon him.

Almighty God, Father of all mercies and giver of comfort: Deal graciously, we pray, with all who mourn; that, casting all their care on you, they may know the consolation of your love; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen
