Just putting this out there to say that there's a significant amount of "stuff" science can't say with surety. Which is why, when Anthony Fauci began to say "Trust the science", I decided to not trust him.
No one knows with any certainty what the weather will be like this weekend. They can only speculate on probabilities, based on data gleaned from previous similar scenarios. That is what the weather models do. Since this current set of conditions is not that common, it's reasonable to assume that there is less data available for the weather models to use. And that naturally reduces the level of certainty.
So, with regards to my charge at Macedonia Church, I implore you: Please don't ask me at this time what my plan is respecting Sunday morning service. Should anyone ask, I will politely respond, "(Dear Brother/Dear Sister), I have no idea. We must wait and see what our Lord shows us in His time."
As for the weekend, the first priority is the pancake breakfast and bake sale for the Brownings on Saturday morning. Right now, according to the models, the weather should not be a major factor. So, we pray for a good turnout, for pragmatics like power and water and working appliances, etc., for safety, for wellness, and for God's blessings in all things.
As for Sunday... we must wait and see. I will strive to get an announcement on our phone system as early as possible on Sunday morning - one way or another. I will post on Facebook and make calls to those folks who I believe need to be called.
During recent past bad weather events, I have tried to post announcements on WCRH through their website, but I'm not sure that they do that anymore.
If anyone has happened to hear, during recent ice or snow events, any such cancellation announcement on WCRH, specifically regarding Macedonia Church, please let me know. I would prefer not using time on Sunday mornings for things that wouldn't be beneficial to anyone.
We plan on having Communion this Sunday. Should the service be cancelled, we will move Communion observance to next Sunday, February 1st.
Thanks!
Pastor Brian
This is essentially what every meteorologist in Pennsylvania is saying for this weekend.
