Empower Monday: Bold Obedience

Scripture: “Noah did everything just as God commanded him.” – Genesis 6:22 (NIV)

Devotional Thought:
Obedience isn’t always flashy. Noah built a boat in the desert—for years—while everyone laughed. But when the rain came, obedience looked like genius. Faith isn’t just believing in God; it’s doing what He says before it makes sense. Bold obedience trusts God’s plan even when it costs comfort, reputation, or understanding.

Is there an area where you’ve been delaying obedience? Apologizing? Starting a discipline? Ending a relationship? Take one bold step of obedience this week.

Let's pray this together this week: God, even when I don’t understand, I want to obey. Give me the boldness to follow You over fear, popularity, or comfort. Amen.

Empower Monday (on Tuesday): Step Out of the Boat

Scripture: “Then Peter got down out of the boat, walked on the water and came toward Jesus.” – Matthew 14:29 (NIV)

Everyone else stayed dry in the boat. Only Peter knew what it felt like to walk on water—even if it was just a few steps. Faith doesn’t grow in comfort zones. It grows where trust meets risk. When Jesus says “Come,” He’s not inviting you to play it safe. He’s inviting you to experience what others won’t because they never left the boat.

What’s your boat? What’s keeping you from stepping out in faith—a conversation, a new opportunity, a scary change? Do one thing this week that pushes you into deeper trust with God.

Let's pray this together this week: Lord, give me the courage to step out. Even when I’m afraid, help me fix my eyes on You. I’d rather be soaking wet with Jesus than dry without Him. Amen.

Empower Monday: Bold in Christ

Scripture: “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!” – 2 Corinthians 5:17

God doesn’t do makeovers - He does new creations. When you’re in Christ, your old labels lose their power. You’re not just “trying to be better”; you’re brand new. Living boldly means seeing yourself the way God does—not as a work in progress, but as a redeemed, empowered, Spirit-filled child of the King.

Identify one old label you’ve been living under (ex: failure, unworthy). Replace it with God’s truth (new, free, loved). Say it out loud daily this week.

Let'spray this together this week: Father, thank You that I am a new creation. Help me let go of old labels and live boldly as the person You’ve made me to be. Amen.

Empower Monday: Boldly Forgiven

Scripture: “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.” – 1 John 1:9 (NIV)

Regret whispers lies: You’ll never change. You’ve messed up too much. But God’s truth is louder: You are forgiven. You are clean. You are mine. Forgiveness is not denial of sin—it’s the defeat of it. Being bold means walking in the freedom Jesus already bought for you.

Write down something you’ve held onto in guilt. Then pray and confess it to God. Tear up the paper. Let that action remind you: God doesn’t hold it over your head anymore—so don’t hold it in your heart.

Let's pray this together this week: Jesus, thank You for Your forgiveness. Help me believe I am no longer who I was. Give me boldness to live like I’m free. Amen.

God's love and His revival isn’t just something that happens in a moment or in a meeting.

It’s not limited to a worship set, a sermon, or a weekend at a conference. Real revival happens in the quiet, faithful decisions we make every day - to love God first, and to love others the way He’s called us to.

Revival takes root when followers of Jesus choose to live for Him, consistently and humbly, when no one is watching. It’s in the way we speak, the way we forgive, the way we serve, and the way we love.

This is what Empowers Carter County—not just a spark, but a steady flame in the hearts of God’s people.

Let’s be those people. Let’s carry revival wherever we go.

Empower Monday: Boldly Loved

“But God demonstrates His own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” – Romans 5:8

We often feel the need to earn love - by being funny enough, smart enough, good enough. But God loved us at our worst. Before we cleaned ourselves up, He came down. Bold love isn’t earned; it’s received. This kind of love breaks shame and builds confidence.

Be bold by receiving God’s love fully. Don’t just know it—embrace it. Let it change how you treat yourself and others. Look for someone who needs to be reminded they’re loved—text them, pray for them, sit with them.

Let's pray this together this week: God, I can’t earn Your love, and I don’t have to. Help me believe You love me boldly and help me love others like You do. Amen.

TOMORROW WE WORSHIP!

But here’s the truth: worship isn’t just a Sunday thing — it’s an everyday response to a never-changing God.

We gather together on Sundays to lift our voices, align our hearts, and refocus our lives… but worship continues in our homes, our schools, our jobs, and our conversations.

Let tomorrow fuel your everyday. Let your every day prepare you for tomorrow.

Join us as we worship the One who is worthy — not just one day, but every day.

We have received numerous requests from our Empower campers for guidance on Bible study and prayer, and these requests continue to this day. As we compiled this, we realized that we too could benefit from this guidance, and so we wanted to share it with our community.

Guide to Bible Reading, Study & Prayer

1. Bible Reading Plans: Start With a Rhythm

A. Where to Start:
New to the Bible? Begin with the Gospel of Mark — it's fast-paced and full of action.

Want daily structure? Try the "One Chapter a Day" Plan:

Week 1: Mark 1–7

Week 2: Mark 8–14

Week 3: Finish Mark and start Psalms 1–7

Week 4: Rotate between Old and New Testament (Genesis → Matthew)

B. Other Simple Plans:
Proverbs a Day: One chapter of Proverbs daily (31 chapters = one month)

Jesus in 30 Days: Key stories from Jesus' life across the Gospels

Thematic Plans: (Search topics like fear, love, friendship, identity)

Tip: Use a physical Bible or the YouVersion Bible App to track progress.

2. Bible Study Techniques: Going Deeper

A. The SOAP Method (Simple & Effective):

S – Scripture: Write down the verse or passage you're reading.

O – Observation: What’s happening? Who’s involved? What stands out?

A – Application: How does this apply to my life today?

P – Prayer: Ask God to help you live it out.

Example:
Scripture: James 1:19

Observation: Be quick to listen, slow to speak, slow to anger.

Application: I need to pause before I react in frustration.

Prayer: “Lord, help me be slow to speak and slow to get angry today.”

B. Highlight-Underline-Note:

Highlight key verses

Underline what challenges or convicts you

Write a note in the margin: “How does this relate to me?”

C. Ask These 3 Simple Questions:
What does this teach me about God?

What does this teach me about people (or myself)?

What should I do in response?

3. Prayer Plan: Making It Real and Personal

A. ACTS Model of Prayer:
A – Adoration: Praise God for who He is.

C – Confession: Be honest about where you’ve fallen short.

T – Thanksgiving: Thank God for what He’s done.

S – Supplication: Ask God for help for yourself and others.

B. Weekly Prayer Focus:

Monday
Family & Friends

Tuesday
Your School

Wed
Youth Group & Leaders

Thursday
Personal Struggles

Friday
Missionaries & Church

Saturday
Thanksgiving & Praise

Sunday
Future, Decisions & Dreams

C. Tips for Meaningful Prayer Time:

Find a quiet place (no phone distractions!)

Write your prayers in a journal

Use worship music to prepare your heart

Don’t overthink it — talk to God like you know He wants to spend time with you

4. Helpful Hints to Guide Your Prayer Time

Start small: 5 minutes a day is a great start. God values consistency over length.

Set reminders: Put a sticky note on your mirror or an alarm on your phone.

Use scripture to pray: Turn verses into prayers (ex: Psalm 23).

Keep a prayer list or prayer journal. Track answered prayers — it builds faith.

Pray out loud (if you're comfortable). It helps you focus and makes it real.

Pray with others. Try partner or group prayer once a week.

5. Final Encouragement:

“Draw near to God and He will draw near to you.” – James 4:8

The journey of Bible reading and prayer isn’t about perfection — it’s about progress. Show up. Open your heart. God will meet you there.

Empower Monday: Boldly Known

“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart.” – Jeremiah 1:5 (NIV)

God knew you before your first breath. That’s more than just knowing your name—He knew your dreams, your doubts, your fears, and your future. You were never a mistake or an accident. In a world that often labels us, God sees who you really are and says, “Mine.” There is boldness in being known by the One who formed the stars and still made room for you.

Ask yourself: Where do I find my identity? In my popularity? Performance? Past? Be bold this week by reminding yourself daily: God knew me. God knows me. God still wants me. Share that truth with one person who may need to hear it.

Let's pray this prayer together this week: Father, thank You for knowing me deeply and still choosing me. Help me to live boldly as someone designed by You. Amen.
