Church family and guests, please read and ruminate upon Acts 15:6-11 before attending worship this weekend. We will be addressing God's grace that frees us, not to sin all the more (Romans 6:2), but to experience God's salvation alone via faith alone in Christ alone. It was the manner of some to handcuff the new non-Jewish brothers with legalistic works. But Paul presented a model of liberating grace. We will examine that God chose these Gentiles "to hear and believe the Gospel" that the Apostle preached. The evidence of their salvation was the Holy Spirit bestowed to them. Today's caution is that there are those within our religious communities who have willingly watered doctrine or weighed believers down with historically unbiblical statements concerning "God's salvation via faith in Jesus Christ" (soteriology). We must acknowledge what the early church announced and our church affirmed, "It is by grace alone via faith alone in Christ alone that one is saved, sanctified, and one day glorified."
