We love building, we love serving, but the best part of the day is when, in this case, our client Erin, gets to try out her new access ramp for the first time.

Our ramp recovery of two weeks ago has now been repurposed for Erin and was installed off the back side of her family home at her special needs living quarters. Erin was born with Spina Bifida and is now using a power mobility device to access her home and now can enjoy the ease coming and going on her own. This will aid her care giving family in a very huge way.

Having the opportunity to recover this ramp saved us $1,500 in donor funding and brought new life to a ramp that has many more years of use to give.

Thank you Ken Nisley (PM) from The Vineyard Church-Jackson Rd, Bob Burrell St Mark Missionary Church, Phil Lubensky and Steve Meyers from South Bend, Minor Fretz, Ben Smith from Cornerstone Church and Tom Visker from Church of the Risen Savior South Bend.

Moving Day……

The ramp shown in the first image was installed by our team from Family Bible Church of Granger in the fall of ‘24 and as a result of our clients passing, the family reached us, wanting to have this ramp repurposed for a new client, so today was the day.

Thank you Charlie Brown from Oak Creek Community Church, Ben Smith from Cornerstone Church, Tim Stephens from , and Ken Nisley from The Vineyard Church of Mishawaka for all your time and brute strength in moving this 43’ long monster.

You can follow us again on June 27th, when this ramp will be re-installed for a new client by the name of Erin and will be a part of a day where The Vineyard Church’s team - Vineyard Community Builders, is giving us a day of service with the aid of 35 men to install a total of 4 life-changing ramps in one day. This feat will be a record for us and we ask that you keep this in your prayers for a rain-free day with calm temps for building.

What a team, these guys knocked it out of the park on their first build with us.

THANK YOU - Christopher Kidney, Jordan Anderson, Caleb Bell, Brian Connors, Roger Hershberger, Rick Huff and Eric Kimmel of Majority Builders Inc of South Bend for giving up your day to serve our client Carrie with all your skills and talent.

Carrie, 31, who suffers from multiple disabilities now has a safe way to manage getting into her home, where steps were always difficult, causing her to fall many times. She no longer faces this issue and with upcoming multiple surgeries, the safe access we provided will make her life so much easier as she works through rehab and life in general.

We welcome any corporate team that would like to build with us in our shared community for the benefit of one of our neighbors. Feel free to reach out to us at any time with questions about how your organization can jump in and help.

Sometimes all it takes is two hours and two volunteers to improve the lives of two people with mobility issues in their use of steps at their home. Well, that was the case for Helen (83) and Luther (87) who just needed the addition of handrails at both their front and back doors of their home.

We didn’t get our normal completion photo with our clients because they had doctors appointments to leave for, but the phone call that I received from Helen showed their true appreciation for all we did and she shared just how much easier and safer they both feel having railings that they have lived without for over 50 years in their life long home.

Would you like to make a difference too by volunteering? Join us by going to www.sawsramps.org where you can join our volunteer team or by making a secure, safe online donation that helps us continue serving residents in our shares community like Helen and Luther.

Another SAW's Ramps of St. Joseph County Indiana project to help someone in our community gain more independence.

Tanya and her family recently moved to a new location with no safe access for her use with her power chair. Her sons were having to carry her out of the home along with the very heavy power chair. That all changed for her in about seven short hours thanks to our team from Oak Creek Community Church led by Dale A. Nagel:
Charlie Brown, Derik Eggleston, Jon, Ben, and Isaac Joyner, Kerry Kyle and Jayden Jackson.
