FMC Grandview is a member of the Mid-Texas Annual Conference of the Global Methodist Church. The oldest congregation in Johnson County, First Methodist believes a church is more than a building. It's a community of Christ-followers seeking to learn from each other, care for each other, and share God's love with the world.

“No one has greater love than this, to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.” (John 15:13, NRSV)

In the U.S., we observe Memorial Day, which is a day of solemn remembrance of those who laid down their lives in service to this nation. As followers of Jesus, we honor their sacrifice, acknowledging the deep grief that endures in the hearts of families and friends, and give thanks for the costly gift of their service.

Today we invite you to pause in prayer: for comfort and hope for the bereaved, for healing for those still bearing wounds of war, and for God’s justice and peace to prevail throughout the world. 🙏

🔥 We are overjoyed to welcome Bonnie and Dan Leavitt as official members by transfer from another denomination. They have embodied the vows of faithful membership for many months, and we are blessed they have chosen to take this next step with us! We are also overflowing with gratitude to the Holy Spirit for His work in the life of Saturn Johnson, who joins our fellowship with a profession of faith and baptism in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Lord, protect these dear ones and strengthen them in the faith! Welcome to the First Methodist family, Dan, Bonnie, and Saturn! 🔥

You’re invited to worship with us as we celebrate the coming of the Holy Spirit and the birth of the Church! If you can, wear red as a visible reminder of the fire, power, and presence of the Holy Spirit among us. No red in your wardrobe? No worries! We’ll still be so happy to see you at 9:45am for Bible Study and 11am for worship. 🔥

What a joy it is to gather for worship, for prayer, and for celebration! We were delighted to honor our kindergarten, high school, and college graduates yesterday. We hope you will continue to pray for them as they take their next steps! We also lift up with tremendous joy and gratitude Pete and Meghan York, our longtime youth leaders. As a testament to their many years of selfless service planting seeds of faith and nurturing our children and youth even after they have “grown and flown,” they were honored by the establishment of the Foundation of Faith Scholarship, an annual fund that will encourage the leaders of tomorrow. Jeremiah So, recent college grad and the son of our former pastor, read a moving tribute as he surprised them with the news that all eight high school graduates would be receiving the first of these scholarships. Lord, we thank you for your faithfulness, for the privilege of being participants in your kingdom work, and for servant leaders like Meghan and Pete. May the seeds they’ve planted continue to take root, deepen, bloom and multiply!
