The Meek Shall Inherit the Earth — Matthew 5:5

Jesus says, “Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth.”

But what does it mean to be meek? Biblical meekness is not weakness, passivity, or simply being quiet. It is humility, gentleness, and strength under control—a willingness to entrust ourselves to God rather than being consumed with ourselves.

Jesus is the perfect model of meekness. Though He is the eternal Son of God, He humbled Himself, became a servant, endured suffering without retaliation, and willingly laid down His life for His people.

And the promise is greater than simply “going to heaven.” The meek will inherit the earth. Christ will return as King, and His redeemed people will reign with Him.
