Behind Iran's economic crisis are millions of families trying to make ends meet, with increasingly little left to sacrifice.

Meat and dairy have become unaffordable for many. Some families are buying basic groceries in installments. And according to reports from inside Iran, some who can still afford meat are hiding it in other bags for fear of being targeted on their way home. Even basic food items are being stolen.

Iran's crisis is deepening. And ordinary Iranians are paying the price.

Soaring prices, fuel shortages and deepening poverty are making everyday life increasingly difficult. Parents struggle to get to work. Children miss school. Families wonder how they will afford their next meal.

Meanwhile, the regime continues its relentless repression. Arrests, torture and executions compound the suffering of a population already living under extraordinary pressure.

For a regime determined to hold on to power, the suffering of its own people appears to be an acceptable cost. But it is ordinary Iranian families who are left to bear that cost.

And with the threat of further military action hanging over the country, there is little sense of relief.

We can't undo their suffering, but together, we can help bring much-needed relief.

Stand alongside the Iranian people. Let the global Church come together to support our brothers and sisters in need.

For families in Iran, the suffering of a devastating year shows no signs of easing.

Oppression and fear are reaching deeper into everyday life, including the classroom. Reports reveal children being coerced into military training, weapons demonstrations in schools, and threats of punishment against students and families who refuse to participate.

Meanwhile, extreme poverty and soaring food prices are pushing families to desperation. Many are surviving on just one meal a day of rice or potatoes. Reports of people stealing food reflect growing desperation, with even basic foods such as milk and meat becoming unaffordable luxuries.

For Iran's children, the crisis stretches from the dinner table to the classroom.

Families urgently need relief. Everyday life is fraught with insecurity and fear, while children are being robbed of the most basic sense of safety, dignity and hope for the future.

Perhaps one of the most important lessons Iran's Church offers the West has little to do with politics. It's about deep intimacy with Jesus.

Lana remembers Iranian women coming before Jesus with their faces lowered. Her mother would gently lift their chins and tell them: "Look up, look up at Jesus, He wants to see your face."

It's a beautiful picture of the personal relationship with Jesus that is transforming lives in Iran.

Yet that is exactly what Jesus calls us to do.
