Theme for September: Open Heaven
Text: Matthew 3:16
Praise God!
Our journey in the Spirit continues. At the beginning of the year, God gave us a word: "Seek ye first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added unto you." Since then, He has been taking us on a spiritual journey, gradually opening our understanding to who we are, what we carry, and the realm from which we came. In February, we sought first the Kingdom of God and gained access into His divine realm. In March, we discovered our identity as sons and daughters of God. In April, we began to manifest the supernatural realities of the Kingdom. In May, we encountered the dynamic power and ministry of Jesus through the Holy Ghost. In June, we discovered that impossible questions can open invisible doors. In July, we continued to develop the consciousness that God is at work in our lives. In August, we focused on unlocking the supernatural abilities that God has placed within us.
Now, in this month of September, God is taking us deeper into the realm from which all these realities originate. The theme for this month is: Open Heaven.
It is very clear that God wants to remind us that, although we live in this world, we are not of this world. We are connected to another realm. There are things about heaven that we were designed to see, hear, understand, and experience, but somewhere along the journey of life, many of us have become disconnected from that reality. When we were born into this world, our parents, teachers, society, and the world around us taught us how to see the earth. We were trained to look at what is around us, to hear the sounds of this world, and to understand life through our natural senses. We have become so accustomed to the natural that we have forgotten the supernatural. And what you do not use consistently, you eventually stop recognizing.
That is why many people have lost consciousness of their spiritual senses. Their spiritual eyes have become shut, and their spiritual ears have become dull. They no longer hear heaven, and they no longer see what heaven is showing them. But I pray that this month, something will change. As we enter this season and go into the Miracle Valley Conference, I believe the Almighty God will open our eyes again. He will open our minds again. He will open our spiritual ears again, and we will begin to hear and see the things of the Spirit in the name of Jesus.
Look at Jesus in Matthew chapter 3. When He came out of the water after He was baptized, the Bible says the heavens were opened unto Him. He saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and He heard a voice from heaven saying, "This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased." Jesus was standing on earth, but He was connected to heaven. He could see what heaven was doing, and He could hear what heaven was saying. This is the life God wants us to live.
When you look at Adam in the beginning, God was in heaven, and Adam was living here on earth, but Adam was connected to heaven. He was hearing heaven and seeing heaven even though he lived on the earth. That is why Jesus made it clear in John chapter 17 that although we are in this world, we are not of this world. We cannot afford to become disconnected from heaven. When you are disconnected from heaven, you become natural. But when you are connected to heaven, you become supernatural.
Look at the lives of the men and women God used throughout Scripture. Moses was connected to heaven, and he was able to stretch out his hand and the Red Sea parted. Ezekiel was connected to heaven, and when God asked him, "Can these bones live?" he heard what heaven was saying and spoke to the dry bones, and they came back to life. Elijah was connected to heaven when he declared, "If I be a man of God, let fire come down," and fire came down from heaven. We see it in Abraham, Moses, Elijah, Elisha, Ezekiel, the prophets, and above all, in the life of Jesus Christ. These men were living on earth, but they were not limited to the realities of the earth. They were connected to heaven.
This is the mind of God for us: even though we live in this world, we must not forget our identity. We must not forget where we came from, and we must not lose our connection to the realm of the Spirit. There are terrible things happening in our world today. There are problems that have been handed over to us to solve, but because we have become so natural in our thinking, we have lost consciousness of the supernatural source from which the answers can come. We allow our circumstances and environment to determine our possibilities, and we allow what we see to define what we believe is possible. But when heaven is open, you begin to function by the reality of God.
That is why we must learn again to use our spiritual eyes and our spiritual ears. You were born to see and hear the voice of God. Revelation 1:12 says, "And I turned to see the voice that spake with me." Think about that. The Bible says John turned to see the voice that was speaking to him. This tells us something about the realm of the Spirit: God can speak, and what He speaks can come to you as an image, a vision, a picture, an impression, or a revelation. There are many things happening in the realm of the Spirit every day that we are completely unaware of. So I ask you: Do you believe that you have spiritual eyes? Do you believe that you have spiritual ears? Do you believe that God wants you to operate with those spiritual senses? This is where I want to take you this month.
Let me share a testimony with you. A few years ago, during one of our prayer conferences, a minister in our church suddenly said, "Oh, I saw money falling like rain." Immediately, I tuned into the Spirit. I was no longer just hearing what that sister was saying; I was hearing the voice of God. And you know what happened? Not more than a month after that prophecy, I received a cheque worth several thousands of dollars. This is how it works when heaven is open and you are able to hear what God is saying. The testimony came because there was a spiritual connection to what heaven was revealing.
I pray for someone reading this message today: you will hear the voice of God. Your spiritual eyes will be opened. You will begin to see what God is showing you, and your miracle will be the next one in Jesus' name.
This earth is not eternal. Heaven is eternal. Therefore, we must learn again how to live with an awareness of heaven. We must learn how to see beyond what our natural eyes can see and hear beyond what our natural ears can hear. When your heaven is open, you begin to function in God. You begin to receive direction that you could not have received naturally. You begin to see possibilities where others see impossibilities. You begin to receive solutions to problems that have confused the natural mind.
The supernatural is not supposed to be strange to a child of God. It is part of the realm to which we are connected. That is why, at the beginning of this year, God said to us, "Seek ye first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness." He was not merely telling us to seek blessings. He was calling us back to the Kingdom. And now, as we come into September, He is calling us to open heaven - to recover our consciousness of the realm from which we came and to begin to operate from that reality.
My prayer is that throughout this month, your spiritual eyes will be opened, your spiritual ears will be opened, and your understanding will be enlightened. You will begin to see what God is showing you and hear what God is saying to you. You will no longer be controlled by what you see around you or limited by the natural circumstances of your life. You will become conscious of heaven and connected to the God.
I declare that every veil covering your spiritual eyes is removed. Every dullness in your spiritual ears is broken. Every disconnection from the things of the Spirit is terminated.
As the heavens opened over Jesus, I declare that your heaven shall be open. You shall hear from heaven. You shall see from heaven. You shall receive direction from heaven. You shall receive wisdom from heaven. You shall receive supernatural intervention from heaven. And everything that God has ordained for your life shall begin to manifest in Jesus' name.
