At Meizon, we believe that everyone deserves spaces where they are safe, supported, and celebrated exactly as they are. That's why we're grateful for organizations like the Pride Center of North Central Florida and the important work they do every day in our community.

Through support groups, advocacy, education, community events, and resources for LGBTQ+ individuals and their loved ones, the Pride Center helps create a Gainesville where more people can experience belonging, connection, and hope.

We're thankful for their partnership and the difference they make in the lives of so many. To learn more about their work or find ways to get involved, visit pccncf.org.

Sometimes the hardest thing isn't stepping into who God created you to be. It's giving yourself permission to stop abandoning yourself to meet everyone else's expectations.

This week in Summer Jams, we explored Moana's "How Far I'll Go" and the story of the daughters of Zelophehad, discovering that faithfulness was never meant to require self-erasure. The voice inside calling you toward wholeness may not be rebellion. It might just be grace inviting you home.

You were not created to live at the expense of who God made you to be.

Today marks 10 years since the Pulse nightclub shooting in Orlando.

As a church, we pause to remember the 49 lives that were taken, to honor the survivors, and to mourn with our LGBTQ+ family, friends, neighbors, and community members who continue to carry the weight of this tragedy.

Today, we remember. We lament. We pray for peace and healing. And we recommit ourselves to being a community where all people are treated with dignity, where love is made visible, and where no one has to wonder if they belong.

"If one part suffers, every part suffers with it." – 1 Corinthians 12:26

This week, we're highlighting our denomination's Week of Compassion.

Week of Compassion is the relief, refugee, and development mission fund of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), responding to disasters, addressing hunger and poverty, supporting refugees and immigrants, and investing in long-term community development around the world.

Through Week of Compassion, churches like Meizon have the opportunity to participate in tangible expressions of love and justice, helping meet immediate needs while working toward lasting change.

We invite you to learn more about the incredible work they are doing and how together we can be part of bringing hope, healing, and support to communities both near and far. Learn more: weekofcompassion.org

Compassion isn't just something we feel. It's something we practice.

This past Sunday in Summer Jams: Disney Karaoke, Erin Bruchert reminded us that our lives are not defined by the plans that failed.

Like Tiana, we often find ourselves navigating unexpected detours, disappointments, and dreams that don't unfold the way we imagined. But our story doesn't end there. We are shaped by the God who restores, the community that surrounds us, and the perseverance we show by taking the next step, one flight of steps, or one bayou at a time.

This week we're highlighting one of Meizon's community partners, Peaceful Paths.

For more than 50 years, Peaceful Paths has been helping survivors of domestic violence find safety, support, advocacy, and hope right here in our community. Their work includes emergency shelter, a 24-hour helpline, counseling, children's programs, legal advocacy, and violence prevention education. They serve survivors throughout Alachua, Bradford, and Union Counties.

At Meizon, we believe everyone deserves to live free from fear. We're grateful for organizations that walk alongside people during some of the hardest moments of their lives and help create pathways toward healing and safety.

“Healing begins when somebody finally feels safe enough to tell the truth.”

That line from Week 1 of *Summer Jams: Disney Karaoke* stayed with us.

Because healing isn’t usually about having the perfect words or getting everything figured out. Sometimes it starts in a much quieter place. Real healing often begins when honesty finally feels safer than silence.

Thank you, Zach Mayo-Frey, for a meaningful start to the series. 🎤☀️
