Happy Mother’s Day!

God of compassion, whose Son Jesus Christ, the child of Mary, shared the life of a home in Nazareth, and on the cross drew the whole human family to himself: strengthen us in our daily living that in joy and in sorrow we may know the power of your presence to bind together and to heal; through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord, who lives and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen

The Creation Care Community reminds us today is Earth Day. Happy Earth Day! Pasting their message below:

"Today is Earth Day!

What is Earth Day? Earth Day is celebrated on April 22 each year. This started here in the USA in 1970, when, in response to a massive oil spill, Wisconsin Senator Ga***rd Nelson proposed a teach-in day on college campuses to educate students about the environment and pollution.

Ga***rd Nelson’s idea took off and grew, and grew! It is a reminder that one person can make a difference to the world.

Earth Day is now a global commemoration, marked by millions around the world each year on this day.

The Creation Care Community pray that you will have a calm, reflective, purposeful day, as we remember the gift of this beautiful Earth and praise and thank its Creator. That we will each try to play a part so together we can make a difference.

May we fulfil the prayer from our baptism, that we may have “the gift of joy and wonder in all your works.”

O LORD, how manifold are your works!
in wisdom you have made them all;
the earth is full of your creatures.
--Psalm 104

Remember that this year the Creation Care Community of the Episcopal Diocese of Long Island is holding our “Fight for Earth” Day on Saturday, April 25th, at the Cathedral of the Incarnation in Garden City, NY, beginning at 11:00 a.m. See more and register at https://www.dioceseli.org/events/earthday26

Today our Diocese is electing a new bishop. Let us pray that, through the guidance of the Holy Spirit, the electors will choose the right person to lead us in these challenging times.

Let us pray for the candidates, the delegates, and the Diocese.

Almighty God, giver of every good gift: Look graciously on your Church, and so guide the minds of those who shall choose a bishop for this Diocese, that we may receive a faithful pastor, who will care for your people and equip us for our ministries; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Today, Holy Saturday, April 4, Great Vigil of Easter

Holy Eucharist, 8:00 p.m. at the Church of the Transfiguration of Freeport, Episcopal Diocese of Long Island.

The last day of the Triduum, we celebrate the Resurrection, welcoming the return of light to the world.

It is a service that starts with the kindling of the new fire at the entrance to the church, the lighting of the pew torches and our own candles, and the light being restored as we sing the “Gloria” for the first time since Ash Wednesday.

See you in church!!

Today is Maundy Thursday, April 2 — Eucharist and Vigil, 7:30 p.m. at The Church Transfiguration of Freeport, Episcopal Diocese of Long Island

Maundy Thursday begins the Triduum, the great and ancient three-day commemoration of Christ’s death and resurrection.

Holy Eucharist including foot-washing, a reenactment of the Last Supper

Agape Feast - a sharing of simple food to recall the fellowship of the love we are called to live as the family of Christ

Stripping of the Altar — Everything is removed from the altar which is left bare to recall Jesus being stripped of everything. It is redecorated again on Saturday evening ahead of the Great Vigil of Easter

Vigil at the Altar of Repose — “Will you not watch with me one hour?” Jesus asked his disciples. We spend time at the Altar of Repose, where the sacrament of Jesus’ body is placed. We pray and watch for as long as we choose.
