Our Creation Sunday outdoor Eucharist yesterday was a wonderful beginning to our celebration of the Season of Creation. Our celebrant was Canon Charles G. Ackerson, filling in while our Rector was on vacation.

Sad.

The historically Black St. Stephen’s Episcopal church will soon shut its doors after more than 120 years. The congregation will merge with that of another church about 2 miles away.

The corner lot where the church sits is on the market for nearly $12 million, and the building “is certainly likely” to be demolished, said Kevin Schmitz, the real estate agent handling the sale. At Transfiguration, we’re having an outdoors Eucharist at 9:00 a.m. for Creation Sunday. Come join us to celebrate God’s good gift of Creation, and pledge to preserve it.

"Today is Earth Day!

What is Earth Day? Earth Day is celebrated on April 22 each year. This started here in the USA in 1970, when, in response to a massive oil spill, Wisconsin Senator Ga***rd Nelson proposed a teach-in day on college campuses to educate students about the environment and pollution.

Ga***rd Nelson’s idea took off and grew, and grew! It is a reminder that one person can make a difference to the world.

Earth Day is now a global commemoration, marked by millions around the world each year on this day.

The Creation Care Community pray that you will have a calm, reflective, purposeful day, as we remember the gift of this beautiful Earth and praise and thank its Creator. That we will each try to play a part so together we can make a difference.

May we fulfil the prayer from our baptism, that we may have “the gift of joy and wonder in all your works.”

O LORD, how manifold are your works!
in wisdom you have made them all;
