A heartfelt thank you to everyone who came out for Mitzvah Day and helped prepare Beth Sholom Temple for the Open House and High Holy Days! From cleaning and organizing to beautifying our sacred spaces, your hard work and dedication made a tremendous difference.

The temple looks wonderful, and we truly could not have done it without our amazing team of members who showed up ready to lend a hand. Your spirit of service and community is what makes Beth Sholom so special.

📖 Honor the Memory of Loved Ones in Beth Sholom Temple's 2026 Yizkor Book

The High Holy Days will be here before we know it, and it is time to begin collecting names for inclusion in this year's Yizkor Book.

The Yizkor Book provides our community with a meaningful opportunity to remember and honor loved ones who have passed. The book will be distributed during the Yom Kippur Yizkor Service on Tuesday, September 21, 2026.

As an annual fundraiser for Beth Sholom Temple, donations toward the printing of the book are greatly appreciated.

Member Spotlight: Linda Rose Larochelle

This month, we’re highlighting Beth Sholom member Linda Rose Larochelle, a Fredericksburg artist, retired art educator, and children’s author.

Linda has been creating art since childhood and majored in printmaking at the San Francisco Art Institute. She has been creating linocuts for the past 17 years. Her colorful prints combine bold carved lines, rich patterns, and expressive color, often capturing people and everyday moments.

Linda’s work is currently on display at Canal Quarter Arts, and from September 26 through October 30, she will have a solo exhibition, Relief Block Prints, at the Fredericksburg Center for the Creative Arts.

She is also the author and illustrator of two children’s books, which are available locally at the Fredericksburg Food Co-op, Canal Quarter Arts and Amazon (links below.)

Linda has generously offered to donate one of her works to the Beth Sholom 90th Anniversary Gala auction.

📢 Beth Sholom Temple Annual Summer Clean-Up & Mitzvah Day

🗓 Sunday, August 23, 2026
⏰ 9:00 AM - 1:00 PM

Join us for Beth Sholom Temple's Annual Summer Clean-Up Day, also known as Mitzvah Day, as we prepare our building and grounds for our Open House the following weekend.

Whether you can stay for an hour or the entire morning, your help makes a difference. This is a wonderful opportunity to come together as a community, care for our Temple, and perform a mitzvah through service.

In addition to helping with the clean-up, we will be collecting donations for the Fredericksburg Regional Food Bank. Please bring a non-perishable item to support local families in need.

We are currently looking for volunteers to serve at Micah Ministries Tuesday night dinner on August 11, 2026 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM. We are also looking for donations of paper products (plates, cups, napkins, plastic cutlery) for the occasion, which can be dropped off in the Beth Sholom Temple Social Hall through Saturday, August 8, 2026. June is Pride Month, and as we do each year, we will celebrate with a special service. This year, Pride Shabbat falls on Juneteenth, which we will also be observing.

Please join Ronda Young, Melanie Firestone, Maia Conrad and Melissa Molfetas for a very special musical service on Friday, June 19 at 7:30 PM. We will be joined by members of our JEDI Committee (Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion), who will offer special readings, along with guest speaker Delegate and Pastor Joshua Cole, who will deliver the d’var Torah on Justice, Faith, and Hope.

It promises to be a unique and meaningful musical evening celebrating love, peace, and social justice.
