It's the final Friday of the Onion Ring Film Fest! Join us as we watch "Death Is But A Dream." A film about a hospice doctor named Christopher Kerr. All of his patients die. Yet he has cared for thousands of patients who, in the face of death, speak of love and grace. Beyond the physical realities of dying are unseen processes that are remarkably life-affirming. These include dreams that are unlike any regular dream. Described as "more real than real," these endof-life experiences resurrect past relationships, meaningful events and themes of love and forgiveness; they restore life's meaning and mark the transition from distress to comfort and acceptance.

In Death Is But A Dream, Dr. Kerr leads the audience through intimate interviews with the dying where the viewer can experience the immense power of the dreams and visions first hand. The film paints a compelling and deeply moving portrait of the profoundly healing nature of the dying process and shows the great comfort these experiences can provide to the families they leave behind.

A film of comfort, hope, and a genuinely uplifting look at death.

So join us this Friday (May 22). Doors open at 5:30, and the film will begin at 6 pm!

The third movie in our Onion Ring Film Fest is "The Price of Fairness". Directed by Alex Gabbay, this documentary investigates why societies tolerate high levels of inequality, challenging the notion that humans are inherently selfish. Through social experiments, monkey behavior studies, and economic, political, and social examples from India to the US, this film examines how inequitable systems are maintained and what it takes to change them.

Hope we see you tonight (Friday, May 15)! Doors open at 5:30, movie starts at 6 pm!

This Friday will be the second film of our Onion Rings: A Pre-Pentecost Film Festival. We’ll gather in the Youth Area, with doors opening at 5:30 PM and the film beginning at 6:00 PM. The film this week is Advocate. This film includes some strong language and intense moments that reflect the weight of the real-life situations it portrays. It’s not always easy to watch, but it is important. And sometimes, growth comes not from comfort, but from being willing to stay present in hard spaces. We hope you will make time to attend!

Friday kicks off our Onion Ring Film Festival with a powerful movie.

"Manzanar Diverted: When Water Becomes Dust"
With a “Good Talk” conversation featuring Director/Producer Ann Kaneko

This film tells a powerful story of struggle, survival, and the longing for a flourishing life—where decisions by the powerful collide with the resilience of everyday people.

As we gather, we’ll begin to ask:

What does it mean to truly dwell in Jesus?
How does the Spirit empower us to live bravely and actively in that truth?
And how might God be opening our hearts to participate in a more just and life-giving world?

We’ll watch. We’ll listen. We’ll think. We’ll pray. And we’ll begin to imagine a future shaped by fuller life and deeper love for all people.

So join us Friday, May 1. Doors open at 5:30, film begins at 6 pm. Hope to see you there!
