🌎 Mission Monday: Zooming Out Together
This week’s Mission Monday is a little different. Usually, we “zoom in” to spotlight a specific ministry within our congregation. Today, we are “zooming out” to celebrate our connection to the wider church through the Virginia Synod and the many ways we are joined together in shared ministry as Lutherans.
On Sunday, we experienced that connection in a special way as Pastor Colleen Hetrick, Assistant to the Bishop of the Virginia Synod for Leadership Development and Digital Ministry, joined us in worship, preached the Gospel, and presented the Serving Boldly Award to Mike Moffitt in recognition of his faithful ministry in the life of our congregation 🕊️. The cake read, "Serving Boldly: Making a Loving Difference."
As Lutherans, we believe the church is more than one congregation standing alone. God gathers us into communities of faith locally, across the synod, denomination, and throughout the wider church.
This Sunday was a beautiful reminder that when one congregation celebrates, the wider church celebrates too 🤍.
We give thanks for the ministry of the Virginia Synod, for leaders who encourage and equip the church, and for God's gifts poured out in people like Mike whose faithful service helps embody Christ’s love in our community.
