The Bible presumes that normal human interactions will be so challenging we will need supernatural empowerment to love. So, how do we love in hard situations?
1. Pause: withdraw from the space or situation.
2. Pray: take it to God.
3. Share: talk to other Godly people about it.
4. Decide: filter through the “clothing” (characteristics of Jesus) found in Colossians 3:12-14.
5. Act
“Love is the settled choice-rooted in affection and commitment-to seek the best for others, no matter the cost to self.”

In just two weeks from today, VBS begins! Parents are tired. Summer can feel long, and patterns change for kids AND parents when school ends. Offering to bring a neighbor's child to a free, fun Jesus-centered evening program is basically an act of love to PARENTS as well. You will be their hero. They may cry grateful tears. You've been warned.
Think of one kid to invite. Just one. And make the ask. The rainforest – and an encounter with Jesus - is waiting. Click the following link to register: https://forms.fillout.com/t/gU1WpzuPQEus

Love is the chief Christian virtue. Love sums up all of God's intent for human behavior and it is rooted in the very character of God himself, who is love and commands us to love others.

VBS is only as amazing as the kids who show up. And that's where YOU come in. Here's why it's absolutely worth the effort:

Because we need you. Our volunteers and leaders are ready to pour into every kid who walks through the door; but we need you to help get them here. You are our best recruitment plan. No, seriously, you are! Study after study shows that PERSONAL INVITATION is the key to getting folks to show up. Flyers won’t do it – we need YOU! Today, think about who you can invite. In just a handful of weeks FPC will be heading deep into the jungle for Rainforest Falls: Exploring the Nature of God, our FREE Vacation Bible School running June 15–19 from 6:00–8:15 pm.

VBS is only as amazing as the kids who show up. And that's where YOU come in.
Invite your grandkids, nieces, nephews, neighbors or a child you know from literally anywhere? Here's why it's absolutely worth the effort:

Because seeds matter. At FPC we’re in the business of cultivating faith and faithfulness to Jesus. To cultivate growth, we have to plant seeds! And VBS is one of those seeds in a young person’s life! You may never know the full impact of one week spent learning that God is powerful, loving, creative, and present. But God does. It’ll be a fun week as we transform the church into a rainforest; we’re talking waterfalls, exotic animals, and giant trees. But it’s not just what the church looks like that matters, we want kids and families to know Jesus! So, we’ll be focused on teaching all about the love that God has for us.

But here's the thing: VBS is only as amazing as the kids who show up. And that's where YOU come in.
Do you have grandkids, nieces, nephews, neighbors or a child you know from literally anywhere? Invite them. Here's why it's absolutely worth the effort:

Because Jesus said so. "Let the little children come to me" isn't just a happy quote from Jesus; it's an invitation we get to extend on His behalf. Bringing a child to VBS might be one of the most genuinely Jesus-first things we can do this summer.

Who can you invite?

Weekend Devotional: This weekend, make a point of practicing patience. Take the long way home, get in the longer line at the check-out, drive the speed limit, don’t rush a family member, etc. As you practice patience, thank God for the patience He has shown you.

The character trait Paul describes most carefully in this passage, forgiveness, begins in bearing with others, handling grievance appropriately and forgiving in the same manner in which God forgives you. Join us this Sunday for "Forgiveness" the seventh installment of our sermon series "Tailor Made - Dressing in the Character of Christ".

Going Deeper: Have you ever thought about the prevalence of vengeance, getting even, or payback in our culture? Why do you think it seems that humans are hard-wired to want to hit back when they are injured or insulted?
