The Indescribable Gift of Salvation.
Humanity as a whole faces a spiritual debt it can not afford to pay. We do not have the means (the what) nor the jurisdiction (the where), nor so we have any knowledge of the how to settle this debt. We are lost and helpless without God.The debt that we owe is that all have sinned and fallen short of God's glorious standard. This debt also has a consequences: "for the wages of sin death." The spiritual wage of sin is spiritual death.
What is the solution then? One may ask.
Since we cannot pay of this debt, God provides a away out. God provides salvation, not as a wage to be earned, but as a pure gift of His grace. The solution that God provides is salvation in Christ, and it is a completely free gift to all humanity.
Scripture: Romans 3:23-24 & Romans 6:23
Death is the wage for sin. But God counters this death by offering eternal life through His Son Jesus. God's gift is free to us, but it cost Christ His life. Christ paid with His life, so that we can be offered the gift of salvation. He did this by dying in our place. When that happened, divine justice was satisfied. Salvation could then be offered to us.
The Description of this salvation: God's gift of salvation is so magnificent it surpasses human language.
Scripture: 2 Corinthians 9:15
Paul calls it an "indescribable" or "unspeakable" gift. It is indescribable because of the massive gap it bridges between a holy God and sinful humanity.
This gift of salvation is available to all. Salvation is universally offered, but it must be personally believed and received by faith in Christ.
Scripture: John 3:16
God loved the entire world enough to give His only Son. But the gift is not automatically applied to everyone. Only those who believe in Him will escape spiritual death and have eternal life in Christ.
The Result of receiving the gift grants us a new identity as God's legal children and a fresh start.
Scripture: John 1:11-13 & 2 Corinthians 5:17-18
There are some who reject Christ. Christ came to His own creation, but the world generally rejects Him. But to those who did receive Him, He gave the right to become children of God. This reception of salvation in Christ triggers a spiritual rebirth, making the believer a brand-new creation. Old things pass away, and God reconciles us to Himself through Christ.
If you believe this, surrender your life to Christ now and confess Him as Lord and that God raised Him from the dead. Amen.
